REPORT: Georgia Bulldogs Star Wide Receiver Arrested On Disturbing Charges Involving An Unborn Child
Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young has been arrested on some disturbing charges.
Young, one of many players from the Bulldogs program to have run afoul of the law over the past two years, transferred in December after two seasons at Miami.
According to ESPN, which cites Athens-Clarke County Jail records, he was taken into police custody on Tuesday morning following allegations of battery and assault of an unborn child.
The Binghampton, New York native was booked into said detention center at 4:18 AM.
Georgia did not offer comment.
“This is a pending legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time,” athletics department spokesman Steven Drummond told the network.
Colbie Young Accuser Felt Like He Was “Trying To Harm Her”
An incident report obtained by The Worldwide Leader in Sports notes that a 20-year-old woman who claims to be Young’s ex-girlfriend told police she had gone to his apartment around midnight to discuss their relationship before things got heated.
The woman said she got upset after realizing he was on the phone with another woman. She claimed Colbie Young “grabbed her left arm near her biceps and triceps and physically pulled her out of his room.”
Young was also accused of “using derogatory terms and being demeaning of her.”
According to the report, Young returned to his room and locked the door but came out and started squeezing the woman’s torso after she received a phone call from a friend.
“Mr. Young came out and grabbed her from behind. She said that he picked her up and began to squeeze her torso and abdomen very hard. She said she felt like [Young] was trying to harm her,” it reads.
The responding officer reported having observed a bruise and discoloration below the woman’s chest and redness on her right side. She was transported to the Athens hospital for treatment.
According to police, Young denied the allegations, claiming he did not grab his accuser but simply escorted her to his front door when the mood changed.
Asked how she sustained his injuries, Young said “It wasn’t from him.”
