Every year, stories emerge of fans missing out on tons of money because a bet barely came true. Now, in just Week 1 of the season, one fan lost out on thousands of dollars during the Chiefs-Ravens game.

This particular bettor had placed $10 down, thinking that both Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy and Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely would each score two touchdowns. The total payout would have totaled $5,609.73.

Of course, after a rushing and receiving touchdown, Worthy had already completed both of his with 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Likely had also gotten his first touchdown in the first play in the fourth quarter.

All that was needed now was Likely to get into the end zone again. Then, with five seconds left in the game, he had come down at the back of the endzone for what was called a touchdown. Not long after, though, reviews showed he was out of bounds by a toe length.

The game ended there, leaving the bettor and the Ravens with a huge loss.

It may have just been the first game of the first week, but it will be hard to top a heartbreak loss on a bet like this the rest of the season.

Chiefs-Ravens Week 1 Matchup Had A Fair Amount Of Controversy

Just like the players participating in the first regular season game of the year, the referees might need to shake off some rust.

Throughout the game, the Ravens were questionably called for illegal formation for tackles lining up too far off the line, which many thought shouldn’t have been called.

There was also Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo calling a timeout even though only the head coach is permitted to do so. The timeout was allowed which had many fans furious.
