Daniel Jones in middle of Giants, Lions training camp fight during joint practice
Pads are on and tempers are boiling over on Monday morning at a joint practice between the Giants and Lions in East Rutherford.
Giants quarterback Daniel Jones was right in the thick of things as the signal-caller put himself into the fray as a recent offensive lineman signing, Greg van Roten, was stuck and pinned on the ground by a Lions defensive lineman.
Jones came flying into the rescue, throwing his body into the Lions player to get van Roten free from the defender.
One play prior, Giants coach Brian Daboll was furious because the ball was knocked out of Daniel Jones’ hands during the joint practice, and he did not want the quarterback to be touched.
This skirmish was one of several that occurred during the joint practice as another involved two high-profile playmakers for Detroit.
The fight broke out after the Giants laid a hit on Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown after he caught a pass during practice.
The scrum appears to have only lasted a few seconds as both teams were quickly separated by coaches and moved to opposite sides of the field.
As Lions players were moved to the opposite side of the field, Giants fans went wild as players began waving at the crowd.
