REPORT: Kansas City Chiefs Receive Brutal Injury Update On QB Patrick Mahomes Following Win Over Browns
The Kansas City Chiefs could be without superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes after he suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s 21-7 road win over the Cleveland Browns.
Patrick Mahomes was injured after taking a hit from Cleveland defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson during the fourth quarter. Backup Carson Wentz came in and helped the Chiefs hold on for a fourth straight victory.
According to a report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Mahomes has a high ankle sprain and is considered “week-to-week.” Kansas City hosts CJ Stroud and the AFC South-leading Houston Texans next Saturday.
The good news for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs is that they have a two-game lead on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills for the AFC’s top seed. Both have to win today to maintain a two-game gap with the defending champions.
Patrick Mahomes Had Inconsistent Outing vs. Browns
Mahomes certainly didn’t play his best football on Sunday prior to leaving the game with an ankle injury. He completed 50 percent of pass attempts (19 of 38) for 159 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Things have hardly come easy for the Chiefs this year. But once again, the offense was efficient enough while the defense did the heavy lifting in a 14-point win.
