VIDEO: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Heroically Dances Without Her Wig For The First Time
Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Armani Latimer is a person anyone can look up to.
She is representing so many people whose stories often go unheard.
The Dallas Cowboys cheerleader shocked everyone when she decided to perform without a wig after she spoke up about her alopecia diagnosis.
Alopecia is an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss.
That moment was captured in an Instagram video shared by the team.
“Confidence takes center stage for Alopecia Awareness 💙,” the caption reads.
As she begins to walk on the field, the tears begin to flow as she gets closer to the moment.
“So proud of that you’re doing this and you’re just representing a lot of little girls out there and they’re going to be looking at you in awe at your strength, knowing that they are going to feel so beautiful after this because of what you’re doing today,” the voiceover continues.
The clip of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader then shifts to show Latimer performing with others on the field.
Her teammates applauded her bravery in the comment section.
“Thank you for sharing this piece of yourself with the world. The strength you have is so inspiring ❤️,” fellow Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Marissa Phillips wrote.
“I will cry every time I watch this ❤️ Armani you are truly my idol in every single way,” another teammate, Charly Barby, gushed. “You are embody everything a leader should be, have truly become my best friend, and my rock!! I’m so excited that the world gets to see how inspiring and amazing you are!!!!”
According to Dallas Cowboys writer Clarence Hill Jr., this was the first time Latimer danced without a wig at the game.
The Cincinnati Bengals may have defeated the Dallas Cowboys by a final score of 27-20, but her bravery will not be forgotten.
Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Armani Latimer Opened Up About Her Condition
Cowboys Cheerleader Armani Latimer had the biggest moment of her life after she took to the field at AT&T Stadium without a wig on her head.
The 23-year-old took to Monday Night Football without her wig to empower young women.
Latimer chose not to wear her wig in order to raise awareness for alopecia.
Latimer opened up about her condition in an essay for Women’s Health published this month. The Dallas Cowboys cheerleader was diagnosed with it at the age of 12.
“My alopecia was hard to navigate during my early cheering days,” she wrote. “It was such a tumultuous time that I was only able to give about 50 percent of my effort. Some people picked up on the fact that I was more withdrawn and not my bubbly self, and having teammates that I could sit and cry with about what I was going through was healing.”
In September, the Cowboys shared an Instagram post in honor of Alopecia Awareness Month with a black-and-white photo of herself without a wig.
