Things might not have been smooth between Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley at present. But once upon a time, they were best of friends. During their time together in the 1990s, the duo developed a hobby of gambling. They went to several casinos and placed some staggering bets. One particular incident took even the legendary comedian, Cedric The Entertainer by surprise.

Much like Jordan and Barkley, Cedric the Entertainer too, accompanied the duo often. Speaking on ‘All The Smoke’ podcast, Cedric spilled the beans on how the NBA legends placed a six-figure bet for a hand.

They were gambling. I tried to go over there with their game. They were just embarrassing me trying to get in. They’re doing like $300K a hand. I’m in there with my $100 chips, waiting till the next one. I asked ‘Oh I can’t even get in on this?’. They were like ‘Nah you don’t need to be in on this’,” said the comedian.

Well, Michael Jordan’s affinity towards gambling is well known. Infact, there were rumors surrounding Jordan retiring because of his gambling debts. Thankfully that was not the case. Meanwhile, despite not having the same old rapport with Jordan, Barkley still thinks the Bulls’ legend is the ultimate GOAT.

Charles Barkley Chooses Michael Jordan Over LeBron James

The GOAT debate has been a long standing battle in the NBA. Ever since the meteoric rise of LeBron James, the hoops community has been divided into two. While some consider James as the Greatest of All time, others remain loyal to Michael Jordan. Charles Barkley, incidentally, falls into the later category.

LeBron has played how many more seasons than MJ, and he’s still behind him—that’s crazy,” said Barkley on an episode of Inside the NBA. Thus, with their friendship going down the drain long back, Barkley still seems to hold a lot of respect for his old pal Jordan. Now, it will be interesting to see if the duo can ever patch up in future.
