Kristin Juszczyk skyrocketed to fame after designing a jacket for Taylor Swift
Kyle Juszczyk‘s wife, Kristin Juszczyk, who is a fashion designer, was making outfits for many NFL stars’ wives, including Brittany Mahomes and Simone Biles. However, her career took a complete 360-degree turn after she designed a Chiefs-themed puffer red jacket for Travis Kelce‘s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, during a playoff game against the Dolphins last year.
However, it was not a straightforward shot.
“No one will believe this, but it’s true. I had nobody’s measurements,” Kristin Juszczyk said in an exclusive interview with People Magazine.
The idea of making a jacket for Taylor came to Kristin while she was making a similar custom jacket for Patrick Mahomes‘ wife.
“I asked Brittany, ‘Hey, I would be honored to just be able to make something for Taylor. Would you be able to pass it along? Like zero pressure whatsoever. I don’t expect her to wear it. It would just be an honor to gift it to her.’ And she said, ‘Yeah, of course,'” the designer narrated.
“So I googled Taylor Swift’s height, and I just winged it,” Kristin added.
Once the jacket was made, she shipped it to Brittany via FedEx.
“I was so excited. But again, I was like, who knows? Maybe she’s going to get it and it wouldn’t fit her correctly. So I didn’t want to tell anybody except Kyle, but I wanted to,” Kristin continued.
And, the day, Taylor Swift showed up wearing Kristin’s designed jacket, that was it.
Looking back, the fashion designer explained:
“Seeing her in it at first was just such a pinch-me moment that she actually wore it, but to me, it was like, ‘Oh my God, it fits her so well. I can’t believe it fits her.’
“I’m so grateful for her. I feel like she’s single-handedly catapulted my career. So I’m extremely grateful for her. And just the amount of support that she gives women and small businesses. I mean, how could you not love Taylor?”
Right after, Kristin Juszczyk received a licensing deal with the league which let her put the NFL’s logo on her custom-made pieces.
