An intriguing trade proposal has the Green Bay Packers landing a five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver in exchange for Christian Watson this year.

The Packers are heading into the upcoming season with high hopes and have already caught a flight as they are to kick their campaign off with a game in Brazil.

They will hope that Watson can stay healthy, given his high ceiling. The player missed 11 games over his first two seasons due to hamstring problems, though he reckons he’s found the root cause.

“The key for Watson, he discovered, is symmetry,” ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported in May. “Tests showed a muscle imbalance in his legs, which likely contributed to his problems.”

There is now hope for a full, healthy season as the wideout has undergone specially targeted weight training to deal with the imbalance.

Christian Watson Heads To Cleveland In A Mouthwatering Trade Idea

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox has suggested that a trade could open up that would convince the Packers to deal Watson, given that it would land them Amari Cooper.

The Cleveland Browns wide receiver is entering the final year of his reworked $100 million deal, and it doesn’t appear that the Browns have any intention to extend him despite having gotten top production from him over the last two seasons.

They may feel now would be the best time to trade him and reportedly offered him to the San Francisco 49ers while in talks for Brandon Aiyuk.

“There are two scenarios in which Cooper could become available. In the first, the Browns fall out of contention early and look to cash in the five-time Pro Bowler before he hits the open market in 2025 free agency,” Knox wrote this week. “Cooper would be a solid get for a contender lacking a proven No. 1 receiver, like the Green Bay Packers.”

Going for Amari Cooper would be risky, as Christian Watson is five years younger and has plenty of upside. Should he remain healthy over the next few seasons, he could make the Packers regret trading him if they go through with such a move.

On the other hand, it would likely interest the Browns because Watson has two years left on his rookie deal, which is worth $9.25 million, an attractive number where they are concerned.
