In his first Olympic appearance, Anthony Davis garnered attention for his super athleticism that helped Team USA win gold in Paris. However, the recent comments made by Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards have stirred controversy. Edwards claimed that Michael Jordan was the only player with skill during his era, dismissing the talent of other players from the past.

They say it was tougher back then than it is now. But I don’t think anybody had skill back then. [Michael Jordan] was the only one that really had skill,” Edwards said.

These remarks have drawn sharp criticism from former NBA star Isiah Thomas, who responded on social media. Thomas claimed that modern players might underestimate the talent of past players due to misleading narratives.

Propaganda works, so be careful what you choose to believe,” Thomas wrote in the title of his X post.

Discussions often arise about whether modern players could have succeeded in the 90s NBA. Edwards admitted he didn’t watch basketball from that era but still made the highly controversial statement on the long-standing debate.

Karl-Anthony Towns Clears the Air on His Relationship With Anthony Edwards

The Minnesota Timberwolves made a strong run to the Western Conference Finals last season but fell short against the Dallas Mavericks, missing out on their NBA title dream. Both Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns played crucial roles in the Timberwolves’ successful season.

However, there were concerns about the relationship between Towns and Edwards throughout the season. On a recent episode of “Podcast P,” Towns addressed these worries, clarifying his support for Edwards.

I feel it’s weird; the media tries to make it seem like I don’t want Ant to succeed,” Towns said.

I’m Ant’s biggest fan. I want to see him win, I want to see him being the face of the NBA. We are like older and younger brothers,” he added.

Fans can look forward to the Timberwolves duo aiming to build on their previous success. The key will be seeing how well Towns and Edwards can combine their talents on the court and strengthen their off-court chemistry to meet fan expectations.
