Browns’ D’onta Foreman helicoptered to hospital after scary training camp injury
Browns running back D’Onta Foreman suffered a freak accident during training camp practice Wednesday.
The veteran rushed “sustained a direct blow to the head that resulted in neck pain,” the team said in a statement.
The injury reportedly came during special teams drills at The Greenbrier in White Sulpher Springs, W.Va.
“The Browns athletic training staff deployed their standard emergency action procedures to immobilize Foreman,” the Browns said, adding that he “had movement in all his extremities.”
Foreman was taken off the field on a stretcher and taken via helicopter to Carilion Roanoke (Va.) Memorial Hospital.
X-rays and CT scans were negative, with Foreman expected to be released and return to the team Thursday afternoon.
The 28-year-old, a third-round pick by the Texans in 2017, rushed for 425 yards and scored five touchdowns (four rushing) last season with the Bears.
He’s part of Cleveland’s plan to help fellow rusher Nick Chubb make his way back from a season-ending knee injury that derailed his 2023 campaign.
On Monday, general manager Andrew Berry provided an update on the status of Chubb’s rehab, claiming he has “a little way to go,” per ESPN.
The Browns went 11-6 last season and claimed a playoff appearance for the first time since 2020.
Despite a tough 45-14 loss to the Texans in the Wild Card Round, it capped off a successful season for the team, compared to previous years.
