Julianne Hough Jokes She’s a ‘One-Hit Wonder’ After Showing Off an Epic Olympic Dive — and Her Major Fail!
Julianne Hough is trying her hand at an Olympic dive!
On Monday, July 29, the Dancing with the Stars judge, 36, celebrated the start of the 2024 Paris Olympics by sharing her attempt at diving in a video shared to her Instagram.
The short clip, set to Chappell Roan‘s “Hot To Go!”, featured Hough nailing her first go. As she jumped off the diving board and into the water, she completed a front flip before making a successful landing.
When she tried to replicate her dive on her second time around, she lost her balance on the board and clumsily fell into the water.
“In the spirit of the Olympics – this was my actual first try ever doing a one and a half and then I tried to do it again…,” she captioned the post. “Guess I’m a one-hit wonder 🤷♀️💦🤣.”
After years of anticipation, the 2024 Paris Olympics finally began on Friday, July 26.
The City of Light is hosting around 10,500 athletes from 206 countries around the globe over two and a half weeks of competition, which kicked off on the evening of July 26 with the opening ceremony (plus two bonus days of competition for a few sports before the torch was lit in Paris).
The U.S. is expected to take home the most medals, as they have since the 1996 Games in Atlanta, with stars like Simone Biles, Diana Taurasi, Katie Ledecky and LeBron James, among many others, going for gold.
On July 27, Team USA divers Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook won silver on Saturday morning in Paris. The women took second in the 3-meter synchronized springboard competition. This was America’s first medal of the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Team USA divers won’t compete again until July 31, with Jessica Parratto and Delaney Schnell representing Team USA in the women’s synchronized 10-meter platform. The men’s divers will compete on August 2, with Tyler Downs and Greg Duncan competing in the men’s synchronized 3-meter springboard final.
Celebrating the Olympics isn’t the only thing Hough has been up to as of late.
She and her brother Derek recently announced a partnership with DanceOne to launch an all-new global ballroom dance convention and competition tour, expected to hit major markets across the US in 2025 and expand internationally in 2026.

Speaking to PEOPLE about their new partnership, the pro dancer said she couldn’t be more excited to help curate workshops and competitions within the tour, all with her brother by her side.
“Just looking at the dance industry over the last however many years, Derek and I have been so fortunate that we’ve been a big part of that in the commercial sense,” she said. “Looking back at where we came from was like, man, we wouldn’t be where we’re at without the training and the mentorship and the dedication that it takes, but we’re at that stage of our life where a contribution is important.”
“We want to connect with the next generation of dancers, helping them move forward. Latin and Ballroom is where we came from, but we also want to be able to infuse the multi-genres, so we feel like we’re going to be able to bring a new fresh spin on the convention and competition world. That’s exciting, and it feels good to be a part of it,” she added.
