WATERTOWN, Wis. — When Sharon McMahon, “America’s Government Teacher,” interviewed Vice President Kamala Harris during the second-in-command’s March visit to Minnesota, Biden’s age was enough of a concern that it came up during the conversation — which was made up almost entirely of softball questions.

When McMahon brought up a USA Today-Suffolk University poll “suggesting that perhaps independent voters have not yet been convinced that you are capable of being the president, which you have said you are,” Harris responded, “If I listened to polls, I would never have run for my first or second office.”

In an early morning press release Monday, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) endorsed her “friend, Vice President Kamala Harris.”

“I am proud to endorse my friend, Vice President Kamala Harris, for president. VP Harris is an unwavering champion for families, workers and justice. She is incredibly well-qualified, with experience as a prosecutor, as a lawmaker, and as a leader on the world stage.

“Now is the time to unite. VP Harris has the grit and toughness to beat Donald Trump and I’m eager to join her in this fight,” Gillibrand said.

This comes as New York Democrats have almost universally announced their support for the vice president’s run.

New York’s Democratic leaders quickly coalesced around Vice President Kamala Harris to be the party’s standard bearer for the White House after embattled President Biden announced he dropped out of the race.

However, there were a couple big exceptions to the calls to unite around Harris. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Mayor Eric Adams were both silent Sunday night about who should replace Biden.

“The winds are not just blowing toward Vice President Kamala Harris. It’s a hurricane for Kamala Harris for president,” said Manhattan Democratic leader and Harlemite Keith Wright.

On Sunday, President Biden chose National Ice Cream Day to announce he will not seek re-election for a second term, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris to take over as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee.

Biden said in a letter posted to X that he will “stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”

But if he had any respect for the office he holds, the American people, our republic or himself, Biden would resign from the presidency immediately.

No one said campaigning for re-election was easy. The schedule is punishing.

Former President Donald Trump has accused President Biden of faking his Covid diagnosis ahead of his historic decision to drop out of the election — while calling the oldest-ever president a “threat to Democracy” for staying in office for the rest of his term.

“Biden never had Covid. He is a threat to Democracy!” the Republican presidential nominee posted to Truth Social in a stream of attacks starting Sunday.

Trump also joined many others in asking how Biden — who announced he had Covid on Wednesday, days before dropping out of his reelection race — could continue in the Oval Office after conceding he was not fit for another four years.

The grandson of John F. Kennedy took to his Instagram Story to rant after Joe Biden dropped out of the Democratic race.

Calling Biden his “second favorite president,” Jack Schlossberg lamented the 81-year-old’s decision before turning his focus toward the Republican Party.

Schlossberg — Caroline Kennedy’s son — claimed it is “way harder” to be a Democrat than a Republican because the party of his grandfather “cares” about the war in Ukraine.

“I’m sure we all wish that we did not have to care about foreign conflicts, but we do,” the 31-year-old graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School said, referencing JD Vance’s claim that he doesn’t “care” what happened to Ukraine.

“Obviously, it’s Russia. Have you not seen one action movie? I don’t really even like action movies, but I know that Russia is the bad guy.

“And how are these strong men, these big, tough dudes so ready to bend over to Vladimir Putin, what is going on?”

Kamala Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff released his first statement after President Joe Biden announced he was not seeking reelection and endorsed Harris as the Democratic Party’s nominee.

“I am deeply grateful to @POTUS and @FLOTUS for their years of friendship and support. President Biden is a true patriot who leads our nation with honesty, decency, and integrity,” the Second Gentleman wrote.

“Alongside @VP, they have fought tirelessly for families and communities, delivering for Americans across our nation. I am so proud of their accomplishments and thankful for their leadership.”

In an episode of “The Simpsons” that aired in 2000, Lisa Simpson is shown to be the first female president of the United States.

In Season 11, Episode 17, Lisa laments the budget crisis “President Trump” left behind for her to deal with as she is clad in a purple pantsuit and pearl necklace — which is strikingly similar to the outfit Harris wore during the inauguration in 2021.

“The Simpsons” writer and executive producer Al Jean touted the connection fans made between the vice president and Lisa in the show’s latest “prediction.”

The Service Employees International Union has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris after previously endorsing President Joe Biden before his announcement earlier this afternoon to drop out of the presidential race.

The union, which has approximately 2 million members, also supported President Biden and Vice President Harris in April 2023.

In a statement posted to X, “Vice President @KamalaHarris has been a powerful and steady voice advocating for working people. Across industries and backgrounds, we will support her as our President. We will finish the job that we started under the Administration and get closer to achieving #UnionsForAll.”

Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio threw his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris — who he ran against for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 — and named Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer as his top pick to be the next vice president.

“The heroic, selfless decision by @JoeBiden has given us the chance to nominate two leaders who will wipe the smirk off Donald Trump’s face and allow us to come roaring back. A Harris-Whitmer ticket is the winning hand for @TheDemocrats,” de Blasio wrote on X.

Whitmer — alongside Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker — has been floated as a potential pick for Harris.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Sunday night that Kamala Harris’ candidacy will change the dynamics of the presidential race.

“Look, this absolutely changes the race, David. I think anybody who says this doesn’t change the race doesn’t understand politics,” Christie told ABC News. “But here’s the big question, ‘How does it change the race?’ And none of us know that yet. And the reason we don’t is because that’s going to depend almost exclusively on the performance of these two candidates now.”

Senior Trump campaign advisor Jason Miller revealed one of Kamala Harris’ key vulnerabilities, NBC reports.

“She wants to ban plastic straws,” Miller is reported as saying foreshadowing a potential GOP attack line.

As the majority of Republicans criticized Joe Biden and the Democrats after he ended his reelection campaign, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox sent a message of empathy to the 81-year-old president following his “terribly difficult decision.”

“Getting old is hard,” Cox said, and referenced his experience watching his father deteriorate with Parkinson’s Disease.

Many have suspected that the president is suffering from the neurologic disease, but it has not been confirmed.

The governor commended Biden for being “gracious and kind” to him, his family and the other governors, and praised him for a lifetime of service.

“I don’t need to list all our disagreements today,” Cox added. “But I do need to thank him for his dedication and years of service to our country and for making the right decision.”

WATERTOWN, Wis. – In March of this year, Vice President Harris sat down with “America’s Government Teacher,” Sharon McMahon in Minnesota for interview that touched on Harris’ ability to lead, her response to the 18% of uncommitted voters in the MN Democratic primary and what is at stake in the election.

In response to a question from McMahon about a USA Today and Suffolk University poll indicating independents aren’t convinced Harris is qualified to lead as president, Harris responded, “If I listened to polls, I would never have run for my first or second office.”

Harris listed her resume as first women District Attorney in San Francisco, first woman Attorney General in California and a US Senator.

“It is about people having information to inform their opinions,” Harris concluded in response to McMahon’s question about what the polling means to her.

Harris repeatedly referred to the Biden administration’s $35 cap on insulin costs for seniors, Medicare drug negotiation and infrastructure investments during her interview with McMahon.

McMahon asked Harris about the 19% of Democratic voters in the presidential primary in Minnesota who voted uncommitted, “because you need them to show up,” McMahon added.

“They matter,” Harris responded, “and we care about them.”

“We respect the fact that people feel very strongly about what we are witness,” presumably referring to the Israel-Palestinian war.

The Carolinas both announced that they will be giving their delegate votes to Kamala Harris at the Democratic National Convention after Joe Biden dropped out of the race.

North Carolina’s delegates unanimously endorsed the vice president, chairwoman Anderson Clayton said in a statement.

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. criticized Vice President Kamala Harris over her foreign policy and history as a district attorney at attorney general.

“Kamala Harris is a war hawk on Ukraine, she’s a war hawk on China,” Kennedy said, per The Hill’s Jesse Byrnes.

He claimed that Harris “has one of the worst civil rights records of any public official.”

Despite the Democratic candidate being decided through an open nomination, Kennedy said he’s “very content” continuing to run as an independent.

Major Biden donor John Morgan told ABC News that he would not fundraise for the Democrats if Kamala Harris is the nominee.

“It’s one thing to vote for somebody; it’s another thing to raise millions of dollars for somebody; you have to really be in,” Morgan said.

The self-proclaimed “Biden/Manchin type Dem,” said that he doesn’t think Harris has a chance to win in November because she is too progressive.

He added that the Republicans were likely giddy over the opportunity to campaign against a more left-wing candidate.

“If Trump World could pick anybody to run against, I think they pick her,” he said.

Morgan informed the Biden National Finance Committee that he was done fundraising for the Democrats after the 81-year-old president endorsed his veep.

“If she’s a nominee, Mar a Lago has a real big party that night,” Morgan continued.

The Florida lawyer took to X to say that “Joe Biden’s endorsement of Kamala is his f–k you to all who pushed him out,” likely referencing that she will likely face greater challenges running against Trump.

Charli XCX, the UK pop music star, posted her support for Vice President Kamala Harris on X after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race Sunday.

“Kamala IS brat,” the musician wrote. Brat is the name of the pop star’s latest album.

In a shocking move, the Biden campaign is reportedly set to go ahead with the four campaign fundraisers it had scheduled for this week, a source close to the campaign told the New York Times.

While this has not been confirmed, there has been increased interest in co-hosts for the events which are scheduled in Austin, Texas; Denver; Laguna Beach, Calif.; and Piedmont, Calif.

If Biden goes ahead with the fundraisers, the money raised will benefit Kamala Harris’ campaign for president.

Former president Donald Trump took to Truth Social Sunday night to raise the question of whether his party should be “reimbursed for fraud” for the cash it’s invested campaigning against Biden.

“So, we are forced to spend time and money on fighting Crooked Joe Biden, he polls badly after having a terrible debate, and quits the race. Now we have to start all over again.

“Shouldn’t the Republican Party be reimbursed for fraud in that everybody around Joe, including his doctors and the Fake News Media, knew he was not capable of running for, or being, President? Just askin’?” Trump asked.

Semafor reporter David Weigel posted on X, formerly Twitter, a statement from freshman Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman in which he chided members of his own party for forcing President Biden out of the 2024 campaign.

Democrats have still not forced Senator Bob Menendez to resign from his seat, despite being convicted of taking bribes from the governments of Egypt and Qatar.

The Post previously reported that Fetterman had not issued a public statement about Menendez’ conviction.

Menendez is defiantly seeking re-election his year, despite not being endorsed by fellow New Jersey Democrats for re-election.

Trump tells Fox News host Jesse Watters he “wouldn’t be worried about any of ’em” when it comes to who he’ll now be running against in November.

Watters’ sit down with Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, reacting to Biden’s dropout airs on his show Tuesday at 8 p.m. (Initially the network was billing it as tonight, but have moved it to tomorrow.)

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to be the Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race earlier today.

Warren posted a video on X with the caption: “I endorse Vice President Kamala Harris.”

Warren says in her own words, “I’m endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris because she’s ready to step up, bring our party together, go toe to toe with Donald Trump, and win in November.”

Beyond just endorsing Harris for president, Bronx/Queens rep and “Squad” member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted this evening “Kamala Harris will be the next President of the United States.”

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul formally endorsed Kamala Harris in a statement received by the New York Times.

“Kamala is a champion of justice who will fight every single day for a woman’s right to choose, for middle class families and for the integrity of our democracy,” New York’s first female governor said.

Hochul previously criticized the Biden administration for its handling of the migrant crisis and the increased stress it’s put on New Yorkers.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), a staunch supporter of former president Donald Trump, said Sunday that she plans on proposing a resolution to remove Joe Biden from office.

When Congress will reconvenes Monday, Mace will call on Vice President Kamala Harris and the rest of Biden’s cabinet to invoke Section 4 of the 25th Amendment and declare the 81-year-old president “incapable of of executing the duties of his office.”

Marianne Williamson, who campaigned against Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in 2020 and 2024, is seeking the Democratic nomination once again.

Williamson called for “a genuinely democratic process at an open convention,” and said that “no one should simply be anointed to the position of nominee; all candidates must be heard and their agendas explored.”

Williamson, a self-help guru, plans on circulating a petition for DNC delegates to enter her name into consideration, according to text messages received by the New York Times.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who ran against Kamala Harris in the 2020 Democratic primary, endorsed her run for president in a post to X.

“Kamala Harris is now the right person to take up the torch, defeat Donald Trump, and succeed Joe Biden as President,” Buttigieg said.

“I will do all that I can to help her win this election to lead America forward as our next President,” he concluded.

She’s two for two.

Astrologer and therapist Amy Tripp — who bills herself as “the internet’s most notorious astrologer” — predicted more than a week ago that Biden would drop out today.

What’s more: Tripp also tweeted in August 2020 that she could see Harris running for president in 2024.

As the Republican National Committee opened the possibility of lawsuits to prevent the Biden campaign funds from being transferred, the Federal Election Commission has been divided on whether the $96 million left in the account can be transferred to Kamala Harris.

Dara Lindenbaum, a FEC commissioner, said that because Harris was already part of the campaign committee’s registration, she could claim the money.

“In my view, this is not an open question,” Lindenbaum told the New York Times.

“It’s very clear,” Lindenbaum added. “If Kamala Harris is the Democratic presidential nominee, she gets to use all the money in the account.”

Biden encouraged supporters to donate to the Biden-Harris ActBlue account, which had been switched to read, “Donate to Elect Kamala Harris.” Shortly after, the “Biden for President” account filed paperwork with the FEC to rename itself “Harris for President.”

FEC Chairman Sean Cooksey wrote on X that he was uncertain of the future of the funds.

“If the candidate is not a candidate in the general election, all contributions made for the general election shall be either returned or refunded to the contributors or redesignated …, or reattributed …, as appropriate,” he said.

“This is an unprecedented event, and it should be not surprising this is not an easy legal question to resolve,” Cooksey later said in an interview.

Democrats responded to President Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 race by donating over $30 million on Sunday, the largest day in contributions for the political party since 2020.

Per the New York Times, the donations to Democratic candidates and nonprofits on ActBlue spiked to $7.5 million an hour on Sunday after Biden left the ticket.

“This might be the greatest fundraising moment in Democratic Party history,” wrote Kenneth Pennington, a Democratic digital strategist, on X.

This surge comes as fundraising for the Democrats has slowed in recent weeks following Biden’s debate performance.

Joe Biden’s defense secretary, Lloyd Austin, commended the president for being “an extraordinary guardian of America’s national security.”

Austin praised Biden for funding the military, reacting to global crises and strengthening alliances with other nations.

“President Biden has been a stalwart defender of free government, a fearless foe of tyranny and a historic champion of an open world of rules, rights and responsibilities,” Austin said in a statement.

Attorney General Merrick Garland similarly expressed his respect for the 81-year-old Commander in Chief.

“From the beginning of his tenure, President Biden has made clear in both word and deed that he stands for the rule of law and for the Justice Department’s critical mission to protect the safety and the civil rights of everyone in our country,” Garland said in his statement.

“I am grateful for his leadership and for the enormous respect he has shown for the 115,000 public servants of the Justice Department over the past three and a half years. As President Biden has noted, there is critical governing work to be done in the months ahead, and the Justice Department will continue to work tirelessly to uphold the rule of law, keep our country safe, and protect civil rights on behalf of the American people.”

Blinken took to X to express his gratitude to Biden and proclaim his honor of serving alongside the president.

“It has been — and remains —the honor of my life to work for @POTUS for the past twenty-two years. He has restored U.S. leadership around the world and delivered historic accomplishments as President. I look forward to building on that record with him over the next six months,” Blinken said.

A source close to the Biden family denied that Joe Biden’s estranged brother, Frank Biden, was incorrect in saying that the president’s health factored into his decision to end his reelection campaign, saying the two were no longer in contact.

“Frank Biden suffers from alcoholism and hasn’t spoken to his brother, the president, in weeks. What he said about President Biden’s health being a factor in his decision is completely untrue,” the source told CBS News. 

Frank Biden said earlier in the week that Joe’s decision “boils down” to his “overall health and vitality” but also “beating this genuine threat to our nation in the form of Donald Trump.”

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to be the Democratic nominee for President in the 2024 election.

He is the latest Democratic official to endorse Harris after President Joe Biden officially dropped out of the race earlier this afternoon.

Cooper made a statement on X regarding his support of Harris and her chances in the upcoming election: “Kamala Harris should be the next President. I’ve known @VP going back to our days as AGs, and she has what it takes to defeat Donald Trump and lead our country thoughtfully and with integrity. I look forward to campaigning for her as we work to win NC up and down the ticket.”

After President Biden dropped out of the presidential race, his supporters showed their love to the 81-year-old president outside the White House. Biden fans had signs saying “Thank you Joe” and other encouraging messages.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris after President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 election earlier today.

Polis acknowledged this in a statement he made on X noting, “Americans want to turn the page.”

On the topic of endorsing Kamala Harris, Polis specifically said, “Kamala has a vision of hope and a future we can all believe in.”

Jill Biden was “supportive of whatever road” President Joe Biden decided to take, but didn’t know what that would be “down to the last hours.”

“Down to the last hours of the decision only he could make, she was supportive of whatever road he chose,” Elizabeth Alexander, the first lady’s communications director, said in a statement.

“She’s his biggest believer, champion, and always on his side, in that trusted way only a spouse of almost 50 years can be.”

LAS VEGAS — Nevada Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen, who hours ago issued a statement supporting President Biden’s decision to drop out of the 2024 Presidential race without backing Vice President Kamala Harris’s bid, is playing catch-up.

On social media platform X, Sen. Rosen — a freshman seeking re-election this fall — said Harris is “highly qualified for the job, and she’s ready to lead on Day 1.”

Rosen said Harris “is a champion for the issues we care about,” and “has my support as she works to earn and win the Democratic nomination.”

George Soros’s son and the heir to his liberal empire, Alex Soros, quickly threw his support behind Kamala Harris to be the next president of the United States after President Biden dropped out of the race.

“It’s time for us all to unite around Kamala Harris and beat Donald Trump,” Alex Soros said in a social media post.

“She is the best and most qualified candidate we have. Long live the American Dream.”

Former Secretary of State John Kerry chimes in on President Biden’s decision to step out of the 2024 presidential race.

“President Biden deserves the gratitude of every American for his extraordinary presidency,” Kerry stated.

He joined the chorus of Dems coming out to endorse Harris, too, writing:

“… now is the time to listen to the only person who has ever beaten Donald Trump, and join with President Biden in every effort to make Vice President Harris the next President of the United States.

“No citizen of good conscience should stay on the sidelines.”

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, one of the frontrunners to be the Democratic nominee for vice president, gave his full backing to Kamala Harris.

He urged Democrats to “quickly unite behind Vice President Harris” and focus on defeating Donald Trump.

“The best path forward for the Democratic Party is to quickly unite behind Vice President Harris and refocus on winning the presidency. The contrast in this race could not be clearer and the road to victory in November runs right through Pennsylvania,” Shapiro told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins.

Kamala Harris has secured her first delegates ahead of the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

The Harris campaign, formerly the Biden campaign, have been advocating for the vice president to delegates.

Harris earned 77 delegates from Tennessee, according to Reuters.

In the few hours since Biden dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor, support for the veep is pouring out — partly in the form of lawn signs near her home.

PHOENIX — Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly would not need to resign if he was tapped by Vice President Kamala Harris to be her vice presidential pick on the Democratic pick.

The Arizona Secretary of State’s office told the Post that as a federal officeholder, the state’s “resign to run” law would not apply to Kelly. This means he could remain in office through election season, and he could keep his position if he lost his vice presidential bid.

Kelly was re-elected to the Senate in 2022 after he defeated Republican Blake Masters. He is a former astronaut and the husband of former Congresswoman Gabby Gifford. Democrats are reportedly eyeing Kelly, as well as other leaders in swing states such as Michigan and Pennsylvania, to join Harris on the ticket.

“I couldn’t be more confident that Vice President [Kamala Harris] is the right person to defeat Donald Trump and lead our country into the future. She has my support for the nomination, and Gabby and I will do everything we can to elect her President of the United States,” he tweeted Sunday after news broke that Biden will no longer seek re-election.

Axios reported that he is the biggest name floated among sitting senators.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky credited President Joe Biden for his unwavering support in helping Ukraine in its fight in the war against Russia.

In a statement posted to X, Zelensky also said, “We will always be thankful for President Biden’s leadership. He supported our country during the most dramatic moment in history, assisted us in preventing Putin from occupying our country, and has continued to support us throughout this terrible war.”

Zelensky recently had a call with former President Donald Trump, who then posted on Truth Social that when he wins the election that he will bring peace to the world and end the war that has cost so many lives and devastated countless innocent families.

Former President Donald Trump says the next presidential debate should be on Fox News instead of ABC after President Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race.

Trump called ABC — which is set to host the next debate — “fake news” in a statement on Truth Social.

“My debate with Crooked Joe Biden, the Worst President in the history of the United States, was slated to be broadcast on Fake News ABC, the home of George Slopadopolus, sometime in September,” the GOP nominee wrote.

“Now that Joe has, not surprisingly, has quit the race, I think the Debate, with whomever the Radical Left Democrats choose, should be held on FoxNews, rather than very biased ABC. Thank you! DJT”

The next presidential debate is set to take place Sept. 10.

ARLINGTON, Va. —The Trump-aligned super PAC MAGA Inc. announced Sunday the release of a new campaign ad targeting Kamala Harris that will air in the critical swing states of Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania.

The ad, titled “Paid the Price,” highlights the role Harris has played during Biden’s presidential term.

In a statement released by MAGA Inc., spokesman Alex Pfeiffer says, “Kamala Harris has lied for years now about Joe Biden’s mental condition, and America suffered for it. It’s time now for her to tell the truth and answer this one question: If Joe Biden is unfit for the campaign trail, then how is he fit for office?”

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is calling Vice President Kamala Harris a war hawk after President Biden stepped down earlier today.

“Kamala Harris is a war hawk on Ukraine, she’s a war hawk on China” Kennedy Jr. said, per The Hill’s Jesse Byrnes.

Kennedy Jr. also went on to say, “She has one of the worst civil rights records of any public official.”

California Rep. Adam Schiff among other notable Democrats has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for President.

Before officially stating his endorsement for Harris, he posted on X thanking President Joe Biden for being “one of the greatest presidents of our time.”

Schiff went on to say, “Joe Biden has always put the country first and he did so again today, after more than 50 years of tremendous service.”

Schiff officially ended his full statement on X acknowledging, “The stakes are high, and we must focus all our energy on electing Kamala Harris and defeating Donald Trump.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who ran against Trump to be the Republican nominee for president, accused Kamala Harris for hiding Joe Biden’s cognitive decline as vice president.

“Kamala Harris was complicit in a massive coverup to hide and deny the fact that Joe Biden was not capable of discharging the duties of the office,” DeSantis wrote.

The governor said that Harris was “border czar” amid the “worst” border crisis in U.S. history.

“Democrats are just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic,” he added.

The United Auto Workers are crediting President Biden for deciding to end his re-election campaign — but have not endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to replace him.

UAW praised him for “putting country before self” as, “Joe Biden made history by joining us on our picket line last September and has stood shoulder to shoulder with the working class throughout his term in office.

“Vice President Kamala Harris walked the picket line with us in 2019, and along with President Biden has brought work and jobs back to communities like Lordstown, Ohio, and Belvidere, Illinois. That’s the legacy President Biden leaves, and that’s the work we will continue to build on as a union.”

They also criticized Donald Trump in their statement posted on X, saying, “Donald Trump lies about rebuilding the auto industry, the fact is that while he was in office, autoworkers in Lordstown were left for dead by GM in 2019 while he said and did nothing.”

WATERTOWN, Wis. — Charles Franklin of the Marquette Law School Poll is the top pollster in Wisconsin. Franklin told The Post there is one path for Democrats to reach a critical consensus before the next presidential debate and the commencement of early voting.

“If Harris quickly becomes the consensus nominee that will help clarify the race and allow Democrats to refocus,” Franklin told The Post.

“If it goes to the convention without a clear consensus that means the nominee will have less time to set the tone, with the one debate scheduled for Sept 10 and early voting starting soon after.”

The deadline for Wisconsin clerks to send absentee ballots to those with active requests on file is Sept. 19.

“Harris as the nominee will still bear responsibility for the record of the Biden-Harris administration, with low ratings of the economy and of handling immigration,” Franklin added.

During the last week of June, several weeks before the assassination attempt on Trump’s life, the MU Law Poll found Biden and Trump tied among registered voters and nearly tied among likely voters with Biden at 51% and Trump at 49%.

The poll also found 58% of registered voters had an unfavorable view of Biden and 57% had an unfavorable view of Trump.

WATERTOWN, Wis. — In 2011, Trump gave $5,000 to Harris’ campaign when she was running for reelection as California’s Attorney General. He donated $1,000 in 2013 as well.

Harris said at the time that she gave Trump’s donations to charity. There were questions at the time about whether Trump donated to curry favor with the top cop of California following class-action lawsuits from students in California against Trump University. However, the university had already been shut down for several years when Trump made his donations. Harris’ office said at the time they were not investigating the University.

On Twitter, liberals crowed over the revelation this afternoon as Harris said she plans to “earn and win” the presidential nomination for the Democratic Party.

It was not unusual for Trump to donate to Republican and Democratic candidates in the years before he became the Republican presidential nominee in 2016. He also gave small amounts to both Hillary Clinton and Biden before he faced them on the presidential ticket.

Vice President Kamala Harris said in a Sunday afternoon statement that she feels honored as Joe Biden gives her his nomination to be the Democrats’ presidential candidate.

“My intention is to earn and win this nomination,” Harris said.

“I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party — and unite our nation — to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda.”

Former President Barack Obama could play a pivotal role in the upcoming race for the White House once a new nominee is officially selected for the Democratic Party, NBC News is reporting.

Unlike President Joe Biden after he made the announcement to withdraw from the race, Obama did not endorse Vice President Kamala Harris.

Though Obama was supportive of Biden in the 2020 election, he didn’t officially endorse him until Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders ended his campaign to seek the Democratic nomination.

Republican vice presidential nominee and Ohio Sen. JD Vance reacted to President Joe Biden’s decision to step down from the race by saying he was the worst President of his lifetime.

Vance also attacked Vice President Kamala Harris in a statement he posted to X: “Joe Biden has been the worst President in my lifetime and Kamala Harris has been right there with him every step of the way.

Over the last four years she co-signed Biden’s open border and green scam policies that drove up the cost of housing and groceries.

“She owns all of these failures, and she lied for nearly four years about Biden’s mental capacity–saddling the nation with a president who can’t do the job. President Trump and I are ready to save America, whoever’s at the top of the Democrat ticket. Bring it on.”

WATERTOWN, Wis. — The chairman of the state party that just hosted the Republican National Convention said in a statement this afternoon that if Biden isn’t fit to run for president, he isn’t fit to serve as president.

“Having already denied voters the chance to replace Joe Biden during the primaries, the Democrat Party is now subjecting the American people to chaos, uncertainty, and an incapacitated presidency,” said WisGOP Chairman Brian Schimming, in a statement.

“If Joe Biden is incapable of the rigors of running for reelection, then he cannot be trusted to fulfill the duties of his office. Everyone from Vice President Harris, Tammy Baldwin, and the Democrat establishment bears responsibility for enabling the vanity and self-delusion of the Bidens.”

Ben Wikler, Chairman of the Democratic Party of in Wisconsin, praised Biden’s presidency but stopped short of endorsing a nominee.

“As we prepare for the next chapter in the fight to defeat MAGA extremism and win the battle for the soul of America, we feel profound gratitude for the patriotism and leadership of President Biden,” Wikler posted in a statement on Twitter.

LAS VEGAS — “I think everybody saw it — except the Democrats — that we had a strong decline in President Biden,” Nevada Republican Party Chairman Michael J. McDonald told The Post in a telephone interview. “I hope he does get better. I wish his family well.”

McDonald said that regardless of who the Democrats “put up” as their nominee, “we run on policy and on what they’ve done over the last four years.”

He said Vice President Kamala Harris, should she secure the top spot, as well as the down-ballot Democratic candidates will have to defend “what is happening in America.

“Everyone is worse off now than they were when President Trump was in office.”

Harris, he claimed, is “very loose on her policy” and offers “a complete lie” about the “Project 2025” document Democrats claim is a clandestine playbook for a second Trump presidency.

“That’s a complete lie,” McDonald said. “We run on the RNC platform, that’s what we’re running on, that’s what we’re abiding by.”

He said the veep’s claims about abortion access are false since the state voted on the matter in the 1990s “and that’s been the law ever since. It’s not going to change, but they keep trying to use scare tactics rather than running on policy because they don’t have a record to run on.”

The Post has contacted the Nevada Democratic Party and requested an interview with its chair, state assemblywoman Daniele Monroe-Moreno.

Democratic National Committee Chair Jamie Harrison said that the party will reveal more about “next steps and a path forward” in the near future.

“The work that we must do now, while unprecedented, is clear,” Harrison said. “In the coming days, the Party will undertake a transparent and orderly process to move forward as a united Democratic Party with a candidate who can defeat Donald Trump in November. This process will be governed by established rules and procedures of the Party. Our delegates are prepared to take seriously their responsibility in swiftly delivering a candidate to the American people.”

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem called Joe Biden’s decision to not seek reelection “the right decision for our nation.”

However, Noem — who came under nationally scrutiny over killing her puppy — said that she would not approve of any replacement because they will “support the same radical agenda of open borders, unchecked illegal immigration, and woke values that do not appreciate what America stands for.”

Noem concluded her post by calling Donald Trump “the leader America needs to get this country back on the right track.”

“Republicans are unified and will work tirelessly to ensure Donald J. Trump wins in November and Makes America Great Again,” Noem added.

CNN contributor Van Jones choked back tears Sunday afternoon as he spoke of President Biden’s decision to drop out of the 2024 race.

“People are heartbroken. Even people who were pushing for this to happen. It’s kind of like when your grandpa — you gotta take his keys — and he’s fighting, he’s fighting, and everybody is frustrated, and then you finally get the keys back, and then you just cry,” he said, growing visibly emotional.

“Politics is politics, but this is a human moment for one of the great humans in America. This is a huge moment for him, for his family, for all of us who love him, for all of us who want him to get across the finish line.”

Independent candidate for president Robert F. Kennedy Jr., praised Joe Biden’s choice to leave the presidential race, but blasted Democrats for getting him to that point because his “infirmities were evident to any unbiased observer from the beginning.”

“It was this progressive deterioration — and his abandonment of Democratic Party principles — that prompted me to enter the race and ensure American voters had a viable, vigorous alternative to Donald Trump,” Kennedy wrote in a post to X.

The independent urged Democrats to have an “open” process to replace Biden.

“I call on the Democratic Party to return to its traditional commitment to democracy and exemplify it with an open process,” he wrote. “Instead of anointing a candidate hand-picked by DNC elites, the party should use neutral polling to identify the candidate who can best beat Donald Trump. The delegates should then select a nominee based on this information.”

“If they had done this to begin with, I would not have had to leave the Democratic Party,” he continued.

LAS VEGAS — President Biden’s shock departure from his 2024 re-election bid is part of “a slow-rolling coup in the United States,” a close adviser to Donald Trump told The Post.

California’s Republican National Committeewoman and Trump legal surrogate Harmeet K. Dhillon said Sunday unknown Dem leaders are calling the shots.

“This is the shadowy Democrat leadership overthrowing the president of the United States,” she said in a telephone interview. Biden is “not in charge. He’s being told what to say and do,” she added. “It clearly wasn’t the choice of the Biden family, who we’ve seen out there aggressively defending their their head of their party.”

Dhillon said “party elites” are staging a “coronation not an election” at the DNC’s August convention in Chicago.

“There’s something like 15 million Democrats plus who’ve already voted in the primaries, and they’re they’re being disenfranchised by this choice by the Democratic Party elite, and so whoever they nominate is not going to be the choice of Democrat voters throughout this country,” she said.

Dhillon thinks here could be an effort to replace Kamala Harris — who secured Biden’s endorsement half an hour after he announced his withdrawal — “because I don’t think the Democrats think they can win with a generic far-left candidate at this point.”

But an attempt at sidelining Harris could massively backfire, she said.

“They can’t throw her out without kicking a huge hit on their most loyal demographic, Black female voters,” Dhillon said. “I think there will be resentment amongst everyone who has been whipped up to support President Biden that suddenly a bunch of billionaires, media elites and oligarchs of the Democratic Party are going to tell them who their nominee is.”

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro sang Biden’s praises after he dropped out of the race.

“President Biden is a patriot who has served our country honorably in the Senate, as Vice President, and as one of the most consequential presidents in modern history. President Biden has gotten an incredible amount done to move our country forward, defend our democracy, and protect real freedom.

“I am proud to work by his side and am grateful for his leadership and his unwavering commitment to delivering for Pennsylvania — the Commonwealth that raised him,” Shapiro said.

Shapiro, who has been floated as Harris’ potential VP pick, said that Biden is“one of the most consequential presidents in modern history.”

WATERTOWN, Wis. — Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), is one of five Democratic senators to endorse VP Harris in the wake of Biden’s announcement today that he is dropping out of the race.

Baldwin did not appear with Biden in Wisconsin when he visited after his rocky debate performance, choosing instead to campaign in another part of the state.

The Senator has remained focused on her own campaign and declined to comment on Biden’s viability as a candidate.

“Today I am proud to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for President of the United States,” Baldwin said in a statement.

Baldwin is locked in a tight race with Republican challenger Eric Hovde. Hovde accused Baldwin of helping cover up Biden’s decline from the public.

“While Democrats across the country stood up and asked for President Biden to step aside, Senator Tammy Baldwin did exactly what she’s done for over 25 years in Washington–NOTHING!” Hovde said in a statement.

Former President Donald Trump on his Truth Social platform bashed President Biden after he dropped out of the race.

He also acknowledges it doesn’t matter who the Democratic Party nominates and that it won’t change anything.

“Crooked Joe Biden is the Worst President, by far, in the History of our Nation. He has done everything possible to destroy our Country, from our Southern Border, to Energy Dominance, National Security, International Standing, and so much more. He was annihilated in an Earth Shattering Debate, and now the Corrupt and Radical Democrats are throwing him overboard. He was not fit to serve from the very beginning, but the people around him lied to America about his Complete and Total Mental, Physical, and Cognitive Demise. Whoever the Left puts up now will just be more of the same. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

LAS VEGAS — Nevada’s top Democrats thanked President Biden for his service after the sudden drop-out was announced Sunday, but stopped short of an explicit endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris, who Biden backed to follow him as head of the ticket.

US Sen. Jacky Rosen, a freshman Democrat running for a second term, said Biden has “a remarkable legacy of accomplishment, and I thank President Biden for his leadership and respect his decision not to seek reelection.”

But Rosen’s statement contained no mention of Harris, who visited the Silver State on July 9 and spoke to Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander supporters of the Democratic ticket.

Instead, Rosen said she was “focused on my job working for Nevada and continuing my record as one of the most bipartisan, independent, and effective Senators.”

Meanwhile, Daniele Monroe-Moreno, a state assemblywoman and speaker pro tempore, issued a statement in her role as Nevada Democratic Party chair in which she praised Biden and Harris, but did not explicitly endorse the Veep’s presidential bid.

“President Joe Biden has been the most successful president of our lifetimes,” Monroe-Moreno wrote.

She said he “has given his entire life to service, he has been a transformational president, and Nevada Democrats thank him for his service to our state and this nation.”

Harris, the Democratic Party leader said, “has been a phenomenal choice to serve as his Vice President.”

DEXTER, Mich. — “I respect Biden’s decision and I look forward to us working together during the remainder of his presidency,” tweeted newly elected Labor Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Starmer recently met with Biden after his landslide victory in the UK.

Starmer’s foreign secretary David Lammy has already been wooing the Trump campaign in recent weeks. Lammy recently offered his sympathies after the Trump assassination attempt and said that he could find “common ground” with Trump’s VP pick JD Vance.

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., bashed the Democrats after Biden announced that he would not run for president, saying “they have absolutely no respect for their own voters.”

“After lecturing others about democracy, they just forced Joe Biden off the ticket, trashing the primary choice of 14 million of their own voters,” he said.

“It is not just Biden-Harris who have been polling so poorly, it is their entire administration’s failed, extreme agenda that is crushing hard-working families, causing record inflation, the worst border crisis in our lifetime, and chaos around the world,” Scalise added.

WATERTOWN, Wis. – Today Milwaukee Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-WI) thanked Biden for his presidency, following the president’s announcement he is no longer running for re-election, and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic nominee.

“I will support Vice President Harris as the Democratic nominee and will work hard to ensure Democrats win in 2024,” said Moore in her statement.

Vice President Harris was already scheduled to visit Milwaukee on Tuesday, July 23rd, just a few days after the RNC left Milwaukee.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker praised President Joe Biden for his many years of service and dedication to his country and says his presidency was vital in our lifetimes.

“President @JoeBiden has dedicated his life in service to this nation, and its citizens are all the better for it. His is a storied political career culminating in one of the most accomplished and effective presidencies of our lifetime.”

He also bashes Trump and notes that “I will work every day to ensure that he does not win in November.”

Democratic Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear urged unity in the U.S. after he championed Biden for his service over the past four years.

“While his decision today could not have been easy, it is in the best interest of our country, and our party,” Beshear said in a statement. “I want to thank him for his leadership, kindness and for a successful presidency that got big, important things done.”

“We need to dial down the anger, rancor, and noise,” Beshear added. “We have an opportunity to remember that we are taught to treat our neighbors as ourselves — and that we are all each other’s neighbors.”

Beshear has been floated as a possible VP for Kamala Harris.

Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, two top senior advisers to the Trump campaign welcomed the news of President Biden dropping out of the 2024 race.

“Crooked Joe Biden is a complete fraud and a disgrace to our Country,” they said in a joint statement.

“We are going to win this election on November 5th and save our Country. And then, only then, after we win, can we Make America Great Again!”

Both LaCivita and Wiles also took aim at Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her “just as much of [a] joke as Biden is.”

“The question then to Kamala Harris is simple: knowing that Joe Biden withdrew from the campaign because of his rapidly deteriorating condition, does Harris believe the people of America are safe and secure with Joe Biden in the White House for six more months?”

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, in a statement posted on X, claims the Democratic Party forced President Joe Biden off the ballot.

“Having invalidated the votes of more than 14 million Americans who selected Joe Biden to be the Democrat nominee for president, the self-proclaimed ‘party of democracy’ has proven exactly the opposite.”

Johnson also acknowledged that since Biden is dropping out of the race, he should also resign from the presidency: “He must resign the office immediately. November 5 cannot arrive soon enough.”

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene sent a scathing message on X denouncing Democrats and praising Republican nominee Donald Trump.

“Presidents Trump has never just been running against Joe Biden. He’s been running against the destruction of America brought by Democrats and their policies. Kamala. Michelle. Hillary. It doesn’t matter who they pick.

“2024 is open borders vs secure border. Globalism vs Nationalism. Collapsed economy vs strong economy. President Trump is the strongest he’s ever been and you can’t stop the TRUMP TRAIN,” the congresswoman wrote.

ARLINGTON, Va . —The Trump-aligned Super PAC MAGA Inc. announced Sunday the release of a new campaign ad targeting Kamala Harris which will air in the critical swing states of Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona, and Georgia.

The ad, titled “Paid the Price,” highlights the role that Harris has played during Biden’s presidential term.

In a statement released by MAGA Inc., spokesman Alex Pfeiffer says “Kamala Harris has lied for years now about Joe Biden’s mental condition, and America suffered for it. It’s time now for her to tell the truth and answer this one question: If Joe Biden is unfit for the campaign trail, then how is he fit for office?”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released a statement after Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race.

“For four years, the American people have faced historic inflation at home, chaos at the border, and weak leadership on the world stage. Our nation is less prosperous and less secure than it was in January, 2021. We cannot afford four more years of failure,” McConnell wrote.

He added his disdain for Democrats’ efforts to kick Biden off the ballot since he was democratically nominated to be the candidate.

“Unfortunately, the Democratic Party has been busy in recent weeks trying to upend the expressed will of the American people in primary elections across the country. Washington Democrats have not proven themselves any more capable than the President of delivering the secure borders, safe streets, and stable prices that working families deserve. They are selling open borders, higher prices, climate radicalism, and soft-on-crime policies, and the American people are not buying,” he added.

LAS VEGAS — The Nevada Democrat website and Twitter account were silent more than an hour after Biden’s campaign farewell announcement was posted on social media.

The @NVDems account on X has no comment, nor does the state party website. Democrat U.S. Sen. Jacky Rosen’s campaign website and her X account are similarly observing “radio silence” on the news.

But Nevada Republicans, in a statement posted to their party’s website and X account, said Biden’s “decision raises serious questions about the [Democratic] party’s unity and direction moving forward.”

The GOP statement said, “The Nevada Republican Party remains committed to offering Nevadans a clear choice in November. A vote for President Trump and the entire Republican ticket is a vote for a return to prosperity and a bright future for America. Democrats continue to espouse failed policies that hurt everyday Nevadans.”

House Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) praised Joe Biden in a post on X, writing, “We are forever grateful” for his service.

“America is a better place today because President Joe Biden has led us with intellect, grace and dignity,” Jeffries wrote.

“Jeffries described the president as “one of the most accomplished and consequential leaders in American history,” but did not endorse a candidate to be Biden’s successor.

In a post to X, Donald Trump Jr. bashed vice president Kamala Harris as “more liberal and less competent than Joe” after the sitting president ended his reelection campaign.

“Kamala Harris owns the entire leftwing policy record of Joe Biden. The only difference is that she is even more liberal and less competent than Joe, which is really saying something. She was put in charge of the border and we saw the worst invasion of illegals in our history!!!” Trump Jr. wrote.

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi praised “patriot American” Joe Biden after he ended his presidential campaign.

“President Joe Biden is a patriot American who has always put our country first,” she said.

Pelosi added her thanks to Biden for his service in government.

“With love and gratitude to President Biden for always believing in the promise of America and giving people the opportunity to reach their fulfillment.

God blessed America with Joe Biden’s greatness and goodness,” Pelosi said.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has released a statement on X thanking Joe Biden for serving “our country with honor and dignity.”

“Joe Biden has served our country with honor and dignity. As the first president to ever walk on a picket line with striking workers, he has been the most pro-working class president in modern American history. Thank you, Mr. President, for all you’ve done.”

In a post to Truth Social, Donald Trump criticized Joe Biden for ever running for president, and said that is not currently fit to serve in the Oval office.

Trump said that Democrats enabled Biden, despite knowing that he was cognitively impaired.

“Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President, and is certainly not fit to serve – And never was! He only attained the position of President by lies, Fake News, and not leaving his Basement. All those around him, including his Doctor and the Media, knew that he wasn’t capable of being President, and he wasn’t – And now, look what he’s done to our Country, with millions of people coming across our Border, totally unchecked and unvetted, many from prisons, mental institutions, and record numbers of terrorists. We will suffer greatly because of his presidency, but we will remedy the damage he has done very quickly. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump wrote.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams released a statement recognizing President Joe Biden’s contributions to politics and his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Adams says by Biden stepping down he is “passing the torch at a critical moment, when the country needs strong leadership from a new generation.”

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) ripped Democratic donors for pushing Biden out of the race and said that she’s only work for Kamala Harris’ campaign.

DEXTER, Mich. — MSNBC’s Katy Tur spoke to Joe Scarborough in the wake of Biden’s announcement, asking what he would think of a “full female ticket” to counter the “machismo” of the GOP.

“It’s certainly a possibility,” said Scarborough, who only recently began to show skepticism over Biden’s campaign.

PHOENIX — In the swing state of Arizona, two of the major Senate candidates, Republican Kari Lake and Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego, responded to the news with unsurprisingly starkly different tones.

Lake suggested that Biden should also step aside instead of completing his term, which many Republicans and a few Democrats have suggested.

“If Joe Biden is not up for running for office, he’s not up for running the country,” she tweeted.

Meanwhile, Gallego praised the president in a statement thanking him for his service but kept the focus on his Senate race.

“From his work to pass the Violence Against Women Act as a Senator, to his fight to find a cure for cancer with his Cancer Moonshot as Vice President, to his life-changing work to cut the cost of prescription drugs and create more than 365,000 Arizona jobs as President, President Biden has consistently worked to make life better for hardworking Americans. “As we look to Election Day, Arizona is at a crossroads. Protecting abortion rights, lowering the cost of everyday essentials, securing our water future, taking care of our veterans — all of this and more is on the line. That’s why I will spend the next 107 days laser-focused on defeating Kari Lake and her dangerous plans to ban abortion, endanger our seniors’ Medicare, and hurt Arizona families,” he continued.

While the state-level primary is not until July 30, Lake and Gallego are expected to face off in the close race.

ARLINGTON, Va. — Tech billionaire Elon Musk took to X to share that many of his “smartest friends” are backing the Republican Trump-Vance ticket this year.

If true, the claim could prove to be major blow to the Democrat base of both voters and donors. Musk himself has pledged to fund a pro-Trump Super PAC to the tune of $45 million a month until the election.

After Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris, Barstool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy took to X claiming Democrats are rigging the election process.

“There is no way Kamala would have been the nominee if Joe Biden dropped out before the Democratic Primary and had to run vs other candidates, Portnoy said.

“The people who control Joe also control Kamala and just subverted democracy with pure election fraud and theft.”

Immediately after Joe Biden announced that he was ending his campaign, the Trump campaign sent an email to supporters to donate to his campaign fund.

Since President Biden dropped out of the 2024 race this afternoon, many are sharing GOP vice-presidential nominee J.D. Vance’s two-day-old tweet asking, “How can any Dem pushing him to drop out of the presidential race, argue in good faith that he should stay on as POTUS?” Vance noted: “If Joe Biden doesn’t have the cognitive function to run for re-election, then he certainly doesn’t have the cognitive function to remain as Commander-In-Chief.”

But a New York Post columnist made the compelling case for Biden to step down as president nearly three weeks ago.

“If Joe Biden is unfit to run for president, how can he be fit to continue serving as president?” Daniel McCarthy asked, noting that “the job of being president is more demanding than running for re-election, by far.”

“Biden’s term doesn’t expire until late January 2025 — more than six months from now. The president was at times unable even to complete his sentences in last week’s debate,” he wrote. “This is a national and international emergency: Biden has neither the stamina nor the cogency to fulfill the duties of his office.”

McCarthy concluded: “For the good of the country, the president should resign — and so should everyone who enabled this fraud on the voting public.”

LAS VEGAS — President Biden’s shock departure from his 2024 reelection bid is part of “a rolling coup in the United States,” a close adviser to Donald Trump said Sunday.

California’s RNC National Committeewoman and Trump legal surrogate Harmeet K. Dhillon told The Post unknown Democrat leaders are calling the shots.

“This is the shadowy Democrat leadership overthrowing the President of the United States,” she said in a telephone interview. Biden is “not in charge. He’s being told what to say and do. … It clearly wasn’t the choice of the Biden family, who we’ve seen out there aggressively defending their their head of their party.”

Dhillon said “party elites” are staging a “coronation, not an election” at the DNC’s August convention in Chicago.

“There’s something like 15 million Democrats plus who’ve already voted in the primaries, and they’re being disenfranchised by this choice by the Democratic Party elite, and so whoever they nominate is not going to be the choice of Democrat voters throughout this country,” she said.

Dhillon said there could be an effort to replace Kamala Harris — who secured Biden’s endorsement half an hour after he announced his withdrawal — “because I don’t think the Democrats think they can win with a generic far left candidate at this point.”

But an attempt at sidelining Harris could massively backfire, she said.

“They can’t throw her out without kicking a huge hit on their most loyal demographic: Black female voters,” Dhillon said.

“I think there will be resentment amongst everyone who has been whipped up to support President Biden that suddenly a bunch of billionaires, media elites and oligarchs of the Democratic Party are going to tell them who their nominee is.”

After Biden’s announcement to end his campaign, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said on X that she will continue “doing everything I can to elect Democrats and stop Donald Trump.”

Whitmer praised Biden’s decades of service and tenure as president, writing, “President Biden is a great public servant who knows better than anyone what it takes to defeat Donald Trump. His remarkable work to lower prescription drug costs, fix the damn roads, bring supply chains home, address climate change, and ensure America’s global leadership over decades will go down in history.”

Whitmer bashed Donald Trump at the conclusion of the post.

“My job in this election will remain the same: doing everything I can to elect Democrats and stop Donald Trump, a convicted felon whose agenda of raising families’ costs, banning abortion nationwide, and abusing the power of the White House to settle his own scores is completely wrong for Michigan,” she wrote.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul commended Joe Biden after he dropped out of the race for president.

“Joe Biden is an American hero, a true statesman, and he’ll go down in history as one of the greatest champions of working families our nation has ever known. Thank you, @JoeBiden,” she said.

DEXTER, Mich. — Harry Sisson, the pro-Biden TikTok influencer who has been given full media access by the administration, immediately put his support behind Kamala Harris.

Sisson previously stated that Biden won the debate against Donald Trump.

New York Rep. Jamaal Bowman, who recently lost his bid for reelection, endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to become the Democratic nominee.

“Now that President Biden has suspended his campaign, Vice President Kamala Harris is the most qualified and best choice to lead us forward,” he wrote on X.

DEXTER, Mich. — Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who was previously noted as a potential replacement for President Biden as nominee, put her support behind the Democratic ticket.

“My job in this election will remain the same: doing everything I can to elect Democrats and stop Donald Trump,” said the governor.

Jill Biden showed her love for her husband, Joe, after he announced that he was suspending his campaign for reelection.

The First Lady shared a heart emoji and reposted Biden’s message announcing that he was not seeking reelection.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer credited President Joe Biden as a true patriot and a great American after he decided to drop out of the race.

“Joe Biden has not only been a great president and a great legislative leader but he’s a truly amazing human being. His decision of course was not easy, but he once again put his country, his party, and our future first. Joe, today shows you are a true patriot and great American.” Schumer, D-N.Y., said in a statement on X.

This comes after Biden announced that he is endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris after his initial announcement of him stepping down.

As Joe Biden announced that he will not be seeking reelection, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) called for Biden to resign from office.

“If Joe Biden can’t run for re-election, he is unable and unfit to serve as President of the United States. He must immediately resign,” she wrote on X.

She blasted Democrats for allowing Biden to remain in the race for so long.

“The Democrat Party is in absolute free fall for their blatantly corrupt and desperate attempt to cover up the fact that Joe Biden is unfit for office,

“Every elected Democrat in America owns Joe Biden’s failed and feckless record causing the border crisis, Bidenflation, and chaos and weakness around the world,” Stefanik wrote.

California Governor Gavin Newsom, who campaigned on Biden’s behalf after his disastrous debate performance has called Biden “one of the most impactful and selfless presidents.”

He did not explicitly endorse Kamala Harris or any other candidate for nominee. The governor was previously presented as a likely replacement for Biden in the ballot by news sources, though he publicly supported the Biden continuing to run.

Joe Biden’s granddaughter Naomi, who has been an active part of the campaign both in 2020 and 2024, praised his decision to end his campaign on X Sunday.

“I’m nothing but proud today of my Pop, our President, Joe Biden, who has served our country with every bit of his soul and with unmatched distinction. Not only has he been—and will continue to be—the most effective president of our lifetime, but he has likely already cemented himself as the most effective and impactful public servant in our nation’s history,” she wrote.

“Our world is better today in so many ways thanks to him. To the Americans who have always had his back, keep the faith. He will always have ours,” Naomi added.

Trump’s running mate JD Vance just posted on X this morning questioning how, if the current commander-in-chief drops his bid for reelection, can he “justify remaining president”?

President Biden made the historically rare decision Sunday to drop out of the 2024 presidential race, less than four months after being declared the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee and days after a dismal debate showing.

The 81-year-old president’s exit from the race – months before Election Day – comes after a debate performance against former President Donald Trump in which the incumbent appeared infirm and was at times incoherent – alarming Democratic donors and strategists.

Biden’s withdrawal is expected to set off a free-for-all for the Democratic nomination for president.
