GOP’s Burchett Makes Head-Turning Claim About ‘Epstein Files’

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) expressed last week his belief that a client list associated with Jeffrey Epstein once existed but was subsequently “destroyed” by the Biden administration.

“I believe the files were present at one time,” Burchett stated during an interview on NewsNation’s “On Balance” with host Leland Vittert. “I think they were eliminated during the previous administration.”

A memo from the Justice Department released earlier that week concluded that Epstein never kept the alleged client list purportedly used to blackmail high-profile individuals, which directly contradicts long-held conspiracy theories. The memo also confirmed that Epstein died by suicide in his New York City jail cell in 2019, dismissing claims that his death was suspicious.

Burchett dismissed claims from former Trump adviser Elon Musk and other media personalities suggesting that President Trump’s name was included on any such list.

“If they had ever possessed anything on Trump, it would have been disclosed on Day 1 under the Biden administration,” the Tennessee Republican remarked.

“I believe there are some very prominent individuals. There are people from Hollywood,” he continued. “I mean, I think there are also world leaders. And would it have caused global economic disruption? Perhaps. But I am not particularly concerned. I want to see those individuals held accountable.”

When asked why Attorney General Pam Bondi would not simply state that the evidence has been destroyed, Burchett replied, “She lacks any proof of it.”

“I am merely sharing my perspective. I have been around this city long enough,” the lawmaker elaborated. “I believe she may have overstated her position by claiming all this information, stating that the files are on my desk, and that she would release it, only to then release information that I was already aware of.”

“I think they all got a bit carried away, and I do not believe the files exist,” he concluded, referring to the documents.

Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Deputy Director Dan Bongino have come under significant scrutiny from prominent MAGA figures who believe the government is concealing critical information regarding Epstein. It is noteworthy that both Patel and Bongino had previously endorsed similar theories prior to their appointments in the administration.

Last week, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt also stated that the DOJ’s findings are the outcome of a thorough examination of all documents pertaining to Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes and his death.

She emphasized that the Trump administration had withheld certain materials due to their graphic nature.

In 2019, during Trump’s initial term, Epstein faced federal charges for operating a sex-trafficking ring that exploited underage girls from 2002 to 2005. He passed away in prison a month later, before his trial commenced, after having previously entered a guilty plea to separate sexual misconduct charges.

The official determination of death was suicide.

The former attorney for the deceased human trafficker stated “unequivocally” that Trump is not present on the notorious list of clients associated with his former client.

David Schoen, who represented Epstein in the final weeks leading up to his death in 2019, disclosed in June that he had inquired with his incarcerated client about any potential damaging information regarding Trump.

These remarks resurfaced last week, adding a new dimension to the already tumultuous narrative surrounding the Trump administration’s management of Epstein’s documents.

“I was engaged to lead Jeffrey Epstein’s defense as his criminal attorney nine days before he died. He sought my counsel for several months prior to that. I can assert with authority, unequivocally, and definitively that he possessed no information that could harm President Trump. I specifically posed the question to him!” Schoen remarked in a post on X.

The DOJ has concluded that Epstein died by suicide and asserts that no list exists identifying the influential individuals purportedly involved in his sexual abuse network, as reported by Fox News.

In a joint memorandum acquired by Fox News last week, the DOJ and FBI indicated that they had no further information.’
