President Donald Trump announced a new payment for Americans in a national address yesterday (December 17) – and revealed whether they will receive it before the holidays.
The President has delivered a series of high-profile speeches throughout the year, each offering a distinct promise to Americans nationwide.
So far in 2025, Trump has signed 221 executive orders, some of which have sparked debate and controversy.
The President has faced a flurry of health concerns after he had not been seen publicly for a number of days earlier in the year.
As a result, the hashtag #whereistrump trended on X (formerly Twitter) for a whole weekend.
And after claiming he’s solved eight wars – it’s safe to say Trump’s has had quite a busy year.

Citizens have been waiting with bated breath after the President announced in November that he would be handing out $2,000 checks to almost everyone.
But despite pretty much radio silence on that front, Trump announced yet another handout to Americans during yesterday’s conference.
However, where November’s $2,000 check is concerned, Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform: “People that are against Tariffs are FOOLS!
“We are taking in trillions of dollars and will soon begin paying down our ENORMOUS DEBT, $37 Trillion.
“Record investment in the USA, plants and factories going up all over the place.
“A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high income people!) will be paid to everyone.”
Despite the passion, Americans are still yet to see the cash land in their accounts.

Talks of a handout came as a shock to many, as the government previously said it would use the tariff revenue generated to either pay for existing tax cuts or to reduce the federal debt.
After many questions from angry Americans, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has since claimed that the ‘payment’ could take any form.
Perhaps much to the disappointment of many, he noted: “It could come in lots of forms, in lots of ways.
“You know, it could be just the tax decreases that we are seeing on the president’s agenda.
“You know, no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, no tax on Social Security, deductibility of auto loans. So, you know, those are substantial deductions.”
In his speech last night, Trump announced yet another payment.
In a televised address to the nation, Trump was eager to convince Americans that the US is doing well, and that things are only looking up.
But at a time when people are unhappy about the cost of housing, childcare and healthcare, Trump claimed that everyday costs are ‘falling.’

In his speech, the President said: “When the world looks at us next year, let them see a nation that is loyal to its citizens, faithful to its workers, confident to its identity, certain to its destiny, and the envy of the entire globe.
“We are respected again, like we have never been respected before.”
But on top of his alleged November handout, Trump announced yet another, that many Americans will be able to collect.
The President announced the launch of the ‘warrior dividend’ payment, which is intended for US service members, with cheques totalling $1,776. And furthermore, they’re ‘already on the way,’ according to him.
Trump confirmed that they would be paid for, in part, by his tariffs.
“Nobody deserves it more than our military,” he added.
There has been a mixed reaction to the announcement from Americans.
One said: “What act of congress has authorized this?
“And why would service members receive a ‘dividend’ of any kind, ever?
“They are not shareholders in the US treasury.”

Another added: “Why not just increase their measly salaries by an annual $2,000 instead of this symbolic one-off payment?”
But others defended the move, as one wrote: “Honouring our troops with a warrior dividend of $1,776 powerfully recognizes their sacrifice while symbolically tying their service to America’s founding spirit.”
And in a suprise addition, Trump noted that the military workers would receive this payment before the holidays.
One dubious American said: “So will this check come before or after the $5000 Doge check and the $2000 inflation check?”
