That city gave him one last emotional send-off last Wednesday, as Ozzy’s body was brought back for a public procession through the streets. The tribute concluded at Black Sabbath Bridge — a symbolic stop for the man whose music helped define a genre.

Afterward, he was laid to rest near a lake on the grounds of his Buckinghamshire home, following a private church service attended by close friends and family.

According to reports from The Sun, his death certificate lists the cause as ‘acute myocardial infarction’ and ‘out of hospital cardiac arrest’ — terms used to describe a heart attack and cardiac arrest that occurred outside of a medical facility.

A heart attack, or acute myocardial infarction, happens when blood flow to the heart is suddenly blocked, often due to a clot.

Despite his health issues, the heavy metal icon had continued to connect with fans, performing what would become his final show just weeks earlier in his hometown of Birmingham.
