Food Network chef Anne Burrell’s cause of death revealed

A cause of death has been revealed for Food Network chef Anne Burrell following her sudden death on June 17.

The beloved TV personality died by suicide, People confirmed Thursday.

Her cause of death is specified as “acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine,” according to the New York City medical examiner’s office.

Diphenhydramine and cetirizine are antihistamines, while ethanol is a compound found in alcohol. Amphetamine is commonly used to treat ADHD.

A New York Police Department spokesperson told Page Six that the Food Network star was found unconscious at her Brooklyn, NY, home around 7:50 a.m. on June 17.

Emergency services pronounced Burrell dead upon arrival at the scene. She was 55.

The family of the culinary master provided an emotional statement to Page Six, calling Burrell a “beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend.”

“Her smile lit up every room she entered,” the statement read. “Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world.”

They concluded, “Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”

A spokesperson from Food Network also provided a statement to Page Six in the hours after her death.

“Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent – teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring,” they wrote.

“Our thoughts are with Anne’s family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss.”

“I ran into @greenladyofbrooklyn in my neighborhood today!!” Burrell captioned the selfie with the New York City icon, who was dressed head to toe in a bright green.

“I’m not going to lie- I have been keeping an eye out for her. I may or may not have followed her down the street for a minute. She is just lovely!!!”
