BREAKING: Donald Trump’s attorneys horrify legal experts by arguing that federal agents have the right to invade homes without a warrant based on an archaic 18th century wartime law.

The sound of fascist jackboots is growing louder…

According to the increasingly authoritarian administration, federal agents should be able to exploit the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 — the same law they abused recently to deport alleged Venezuelan gang members — to enter homes without a court order.

The Act in question has only been used three times in American history, including the horrific internment of the Japanese during World War 2.

Crucially, the law allows federal agents to circumvent the Fourth Amendment and can technically be applied to target any foreigner that the president labels an “alien enemy,” theoretically giving Trump incredible leeway to abuse his powers.

The crucial section of the Act allows federal agents to enter “at least a foot in the door with respect to arguing that the president can order this on his own authority.”

If the Fourth Amendment is torched in this fashion, the rest of the Constitution might not be far behind.

“The Fourth Amendment applies to everyone in the U.S., not just individuals with legal status,” said Christopher A. Wellborn, president of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

He explained that removing the Amendment would be “an abuse of power that destroys our privacy, making Americans feel unsafe and vulnerable in the places where our children play and our loved ones sleep.”

Since Trump has already demonstrated a willingness to discard due process, it’s not hard to envision a scenario in which countless innocent people are rounded up, denied proper legal recourse, and shipped off to hellish prisons in El Salvador.
