REPORT: Top College Football Program Officially Bans Their Players From Doing TikTok Dances

TikTok might be the most popular social media app in the world for Generation Z and younger, but it won’t be used as much in West Virginia.
The college football program has announced that it has officially banned its players from posting dances on TikTok.
Head coach Rich Rodriguez knows that his players will still be using the app. However, he does not want them posting videos of themselves doing dances in the locker room, on the field, on campus, or elsewhere.
Rodriguez made that very clear during his press conference on Monday.
“I don’t really — they’re going to be on it,” Rodriguez said. “So, I’m not banning them from it. I’m just banning them from dancing on it. We try to have a hard edge, whatever, and you’re in your tights dancing on TikTok. It ain’t quite the image of our program that I want.”
The West Virginia head coach wants his program to be more about the team than the individual.
“I told the team today; I said everything today is about trying to make everybody individual. It’s all about the individual, it’s all about the individual,” Rodriguez said. “And I said football is one of the last things that’s got to be more about the team than the individual.”
“So, I banned dancing on TikTok; I guess I did that. Anything that doesn’t look like our program should look. It’s just, come on. And I’m allowed to do that, I guess. I can have rules. Like I said, twenty years from now, if they want to be sitting in their pajamas in their basement eating Cheetos and watching TikTok, whatever the hell,” Rodriguez said. “They can go at it. Smoking cannabis, whatever. I mean, knock yourself out. I hope our focus can be on winning football games. How about let’s win the football game and not worry about winning the TikTok.”
It remains to be seen what players will try to test that ban by sneaking a few dances or two. Is somebody going to snitch, or will Rodriguez be monitoring activity himself?
Rodriguez is more focused on winning games as opposed to getting likes for dance moves on social media. The program is wanting to shake off the bad year they had in 2024 and things are already starting off well. The players are representing the university, the football program, and basically the entire state.
Success comes from hard work, and getting wins could get better players to come to the program and truly turn things around.
The West Virginia Mountaineers Are Coming Off A Bad 2024 Season

The West Virginia Mountaineers needed a change at the head coach’s position, so they signed Rich Rodriguez as the 36th head football coach at the program.
Rodriguez has guided six different schools during his head coaching tenure, producing a 190-129-2 overall record.
The Mountaineers need that type of success.
West Virginia is coming off a 6-7 season in 2024. Since the end of the 2018 season, the program has only had two seasons above .500.
