Patrick Mahomes Has Thoughts on Taylor Swift Performing at the Super Bowl
Patrick Mahomes had a practical response when asked whether he can help make a Taylor Swift halftime show happen at the Super Bowl.
“As long as Trav is playing and we are in the Super Bowl, that’s going to be hard for her to do the halftime show,” the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, 29, said during a Monday, February 3, press conference. “Hopefully Trav keeps playing and we keep making it to the Super Bowl.”
While Swift, 35, isn’t performing at the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show, the Eras Tour performer is expected to be cheering for her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. (Kendrick Lamar is slated to perform at the show on Sunday, February 9.)
Days before the Chiefs are scheduled to take on the Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome, Kelce, also 35, revealed how Swift has continued to inspire him. (The Chiefs are vying for their third consecutive Super Bowl win, hoping to make history as the first NFL team to earn the achievement. The Chiefs previously won back-to-back Super Bowls in 2023 and 2024.)
“I better hold up my end of the bargain, alright?” Kelce said on Monday. “If she’s out here being the superstar she is, never taking no for an answer, and always working her tail off, you know, I better match that energy, for sure.”
Kelce also addressed whether Taylor and her family, including dad Scott Swift, may be rooting for the other team after being longtime Eagles fans.
“I don’t know her to have the [Eagles] fandom,” Kelce said Monday. “I know her father has the Philadelphia fandom — as an Eagles fan.”
While Kelce said that he and Scott, 72, have not discussed what team he would be rooting for, the NFL player quipped, “I think he’ll be wearing red.” As for Taylor, Kelce noted, “She’ll be all for the Chiefs this time around, that’s for sure.”
Taylor has been by her boyfriend’s side throughout his NFL season, taking to the field to congratulate Kelce on his win after the Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game last month. Amid speculation that Kelce may be nearing retirement, the NFL player credited Taylor for keeping his passion for the game alive.
“She’s fully encouraging me to enjoy playing this game,” he said on “The Stephen A. Smith Show” in January. “She loves coming to Arrowhead [Stadium] and coming to the games and cheering for me, so I got all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams.”
He continued, “I think, personally, the beauty of being in a very strong relationship is that you get that support to be able to come in and focus on your craft, focus on being the best version of you.”
