As the recovery operation continued Thursday morning after American Airlines Flight 5342 collided with an Army helicopter near the nation’s capital, more information continues to surface over the final moments.
The fatal crash took place Wednesday night as the flight tried to land at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. It was mere seconds away.
Flight 5342 took off from Wichita, Kansas, at 5:18 p.m. but dropped out of the air on approach at about 8:48 p.m., according to aircraft tracking site FlightAware.
It now seems that the pilot tried his best to save himself and everyone else.
A flight radar shows that the pilot of the American Airlines Flight tried to increase speed and pull up before crashing into the helicopter.
Unfortunately, it was way too late for it matter, and everybody would lose their lives.
