Disgruntled customers are destroying YouTube TV following a major announcement ahead of the 2024-25 NFL playoffs.

In a thread on X/Twitter, YouTube TV announced that it will increase the cost of a monthly subscription by $10 starting in the new year. The monthly price is now $82.99, which goes into effect before the NFL playoffs begin.

YouTube TV cited the “rising content costs”, and told customers that they “don’t make these decisions lightly.”

But as you could expect, customers were understandably disgruntled with the announcement from YouTube TV with the NFL playoffs approaching.

“You just did; now, watch your subscriptions go down,” one customer wrote wrote.

“People should just not pay for youtube tv anymore,” said another.

“This is nothing but corporate greed and I hope everyone unsubscribes come January,” wrote another customer.

“Bye,” said another fan, who shared a screenshot of his canceled subscription.

“Can you let me know where I can cancel?,” asked a user.

Hi there. Subscriber of 4 years. I will be cancelling my subscription!,” wrote another.

“Just canceled. Congrats on your shareholder value,” a customer said.

“You can say “lightly” but people found out from a viral post. You tried to tread lightly and it didn’t work out,” quipped another.

It’s just another example of the cost of living increasing. Whether you want to buy tickets to a sporting event like the NFL playoffs, or whether you want cable and/or streaming services to watch on TV, things just keep getting more and more expensive.

YouTube TV will obviously lose a considerable amount of customers following the monthly subscription price increase, but they’ll also gain plenty more with the NFL postseason just around the corner.

NFL Playoffs Begin On Jan. 11

There are four weeks remaining in the 18-week 2024 NFL regular season which concludes on Jan. 18. The NFL playoffs will begin six days later on Jan. 11, with 12 teams competing in the Wild Card Round.

Super Bowl 59 will take place on Feb. 9 inside the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
