The Dallas Cowboys have made an addition at quarterback this week following Dak Prescott’s injury, having re-signed Will Grier after cutting him before last season.

The acquisition was expected after Grier was released by the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, especially given the Cowboys’ injury situation.

Team beat reporter Nick Eatman confirmed the player had joined the practice squad late Tuesday afternoon.

The 29-year-old was with the Cowboys from 2021-2022 but was released before the start of the 2023 season after the team traded for Trey Lance.

He played their final preseason game after being informed of his fate, though it didn’t seem to bother him as he threw for 305 passing yards and two touchdowns, also running two scores in himself in that fixture.

Will Grier Has Never Played A Regular Season Game In The NFL

The Carolina Panthers drafted Will Grier in the third round in 2019. He started two games for them as a rookie and hasn’t appeared in a regular season game since.

He has also had stints with the Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, and Los Angeles Chargers.

Meanwhile, Dallas is expected to place Prescott on the injury reserve after he undergoes season-ending surgery this week, which will leave them with Lance and Cooper Rush as active-roster QBs.
