Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid sport friendship bracelets to Chiefs Super Bowl ring ceremony
So, make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it.
While Taylor Swift wasn’t able to support boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs at their Super Bowl 2024 ring ceremony on Thursday, she was there in spirit.
Not only did the singer, 34, join a livestream to fangirl over her boyfriend and friends while performing her Eras Tour overseas, but Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid also both gave a subtle shout-out to the pop star by wearing beaded friendship bracelets to the event.
Both the team’s 28-year-old quarterback and 66-year-old coach rocked designs featuring team colors in photos from the ceremony, with 11-year-old fashion influencer (and huge Chiefs fan) Taylen Biggs confirming that she designed Reid’s bracelet on her Instagram Story.
The legendary NFL coach’s colorful style is visible in a photo the team shared on Instagram Thursday, with the bracelet revealed as Reid held his hand up to show off his new Super Bowl ring.
His custom-made piece reads “Kansas City Chiefs” and “Coach” in yellow, red, white, black and silver beads.
Meanwhile, Mahomes — who wore a sleek black suit jacket covered in tonal gemstones with matching trousers — wore a similar style, although it’s unclear what his bracelet said.
Numerous Chiefs fans spotted Reid’s bracelet in the team’s Instagram pic, like one who wrote, “I mean the ring is great, but let’s talk about that friendship bracelet!”
“The friendship bracelet steals the picture, that’s so sweet! You and the Queen looked stunning tonight!” another wrote, referring to Reid’s wife, Tammy.
“Ahhhh Coach with my bracelet 💝” Biggs commented on the post.
Although Kelce failed at his attempt to give the “Cruel Summer” singer a bracelet with his phone number on it before their first meeting, all’s well that ends well, in the words of Swift, as the two started dating shortly after their missed July 2023 encounter.
Mahomes recently shared that he helped give his friend the confidence to approach the “Shake it Off” singer with the handmade piece of jewelry, telling the Pat McAfee Show, “I had some input in there as well. I was like, ‘Dude, just go for it. Go for it.’”
Friendship bracelets have become a signature piece of Swifties around the world after the pop star referenced them in her song “You’re On Your Own, Kid,” and Kelce has been spotted wearing them on numerous occasions since he got together with Swift.
He even gifted a diamond version reading “TNT” (a play on their initials) to his girlfriend during the NFL playoffs earlier this year and has his own matching bauble — though he did not appear to wear it to the important event, to which he sported a fiery red corduroy suit.
With football season not far off, we’re crossing our fingers for more Swiftie/Chiefs mashups to come.
