Washington Commanders Make The Biggest Slash Of The Trade Deadline By Pulling Off Blockbuster Deal For 4X Pro Bowl Superstar
The Washington Commanders are making a huge addition to their secondary, bringing in four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline.
Lattimore, the 2017 Defensive Rookie of the Year, joins the Commanders after seven-and-a-half seasons with the New Orleans Saints and is expected to have a significant impact on their defense.
According to Jordan Schultz, Washington is letting a third-round pick go the other way, having entered negotiations for the CB over the past few days in the knowledge that no other team could offer the type of capital they could.
“Washington swooped in on Marshon Lattimore “very recently” according to a source. They knew they had the most to offer and would blow away any other team,” he wrote. “And they did it for a 3rd rounder.
“The 7-2 Commanders are buying BIG at the trade deadline.”
Marshon Lattimore Trade Not Great For The Books In New Orleans
Marshon Lattimore’s exit shouldn’t be all that great for New Orleans’ books. The 28-year-old signed a five-year contract extension worth $97.6 million in 2021 and has a cap hit of $14.6 million for this year.
His trade leaves the Saints with a significant dead cap hit, which is why GM Mickey Loomis was hesitant to include him in any trade discussions.
