REPORT: Jay Cutler Allegedly Offered $2,000 In An Attempt To Get Out Of His DUI Arrest
Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested in Tennessee this week after he rear-ended a driver.
That crash led to his arrest, but he tried his best to get out of it.
More details have emerged in former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler’s DUI arrest, and it has been revealed that the driver that he rear-ended told officers the former Chicago Bears quarterback offered him $2,000 not to call the police, an arrest affidavit obtained by NBC News stated.
The driver told authorities Cutler offered him $2,000 if he did not call police and attempted to flee the scene before officers arrived.
Police on the scene said the 41-year-old had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his words during the encounter.
“During their conversation with Cutler, officers noticed a strong odor of alcohol,” a release from the Franklin Police Department stated. “Cutler was also slurring his words and had bloodshot eyes. Cutler refused field sobriety tests and was taken to a local hospital where a blood sample was obtained through a blood search warrant.”
Jay Cutler allegedly told police he had not consumed alcohol before later admitting to have had “a little bit.”
A search of Jay Cutler’s vehicle saw officers finding a loaded pistol and a rifle.
In the end, Cutler was arrested on charges of DUI, possession of a handgun while under the influence, failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision, and implied consent.
He was booked in the Williamson County Jail and given a $5,000 bond. He would soon be released on Thursday.
Jay Cutler Has Never Been Much Of A Talker, So Don’t Expect Him To Speak Out About His Arrest
Throughout his NFL career, Jay Cutler did not look thrilled to speak to his teammates, let alone the media.
He has been retired for years, so he has zero obligations to explain to anyone what happened when he was arrested.
Cutler has stated nothing about DUI arrest and is unlikely to ever do so.
