NFL fans were saying the same thing after an image of CJ Stroud’s mother with Caleb Williams’ mother went viral on Sunday evening.
In a “Sunday Night Football” clash of two big-named young quarterbacks, CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans narrowly got past Caleb Williams’ Chicago Bears 19-13 in a defensive slugfest to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Less than an hour before kickoff, the @NFL X/Twitter account shared a photo of the two quarterbacks’ mothers hanging out together. Check out the wholesome photo of Caleb’s mom, Dayne, with Kimberly Stroud:
And social media had all sorts of great reactions to this heartwarming image of the proud moms together:
NFL and NBC executives probably weren’t expecting a low-scoring affair between the two star-studded offenses. But each team mustered just one touchdown, with CJ Stroud hitting Nico Collins for a 28-yard score and Khalil Herbert tallying a rushing TD in the second quarter.
One week after failing to hit 100 passing yards against the Tennessee Titans, Caleb Williams had just 174 passing yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. CJ Stroud was 23-of-36 for 260 yards, one touchdown and no turnovers.
Through his first two games, Williams has 267 passing yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions. CJ Stroud has a superb 69.1 completion percentage for 494 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions.
CJ Stroud & Texans Look Like Super Bowl Contenders
The Texans were the biggest surprise team of 2023, winning the AFC South with a 10-7 record before taking down the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card Round.
Houston looks even more dangerous than last year, with running back Joe Mixon, All-Pro wideout Stefon Diggs and star defensive end Danielle Hunter bringing more game-changing abilities to a loaded roster.
With a dynamic offense, a stingy defense and a top-tier head coach, the Texans check off every box as a Super Bowl contender.
