We are at that time of the year when fans should be able to cheer for their team without the risk that they could be hurt or killed, and unfortunately, multiple people at the Detroit Lions game had their lives changed forever.

With thousands of people milling around Eastern Market following the Detroit Lions game at nearby Ford Field on Sunday, a verbal altercation led to a gun being pulled that left one man dead and a second man in critical condition.

One suspect is in custody.

Footage online shows two men on the ground, with at least one man rocking a Detroit Lions jersey.

That video can be seen here.

There is no word on which of those men are deceased and which one is fighting for his life.

The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m., which would’ve been after the Detroit Lions lost to the Tampa Bay Bucs, 20-16, at Ford Field to drop to 1-1 on the year.

Detroit police Chief James White released a statement after the incident revealing that it started out as just a fistfight until a weapon was drawn:

“A large fight broke out (which) disbursed after a few minutes,” the chief said during a news briefing near the shooting scene. “They reconvened a few feet away from where the initial fight started. The two fighters put up their hands like they were about to fight each other … one of the people in the fight, a male from Oak Park, pulls out a gun and fires at least twice. Two people were struck,” per Detroit News.

Where the shooting occurred is a mere three to five minutes away from where the Detroit Lions play their home game.

There is no telling if these fans were at the game and continued the festivities down the street once it was over.

The man who was killed was in his 40s, while the Detroit man in his 20s was injured.
