REPORT: Miami Police Officer Who’s On Administrative Leave For Arresting Tyreek Hill Announces Major Decision

The Miami-Dade police officer placed on administrative league for his involvement in Tyreek Hill’s controversial arrest on Sunday is eyeing to be reinstated immediately.

 

 

 

 

 

 

During his commute to Sunday’s Week 1 home game between the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars, Tyreek Hill was pulled over and arrested by officers of the Miami-Date Police Department.

Witness videos and police bodycam footage show officers pulling Hill out of his vehicle and placing him in handcuffs. Despite showing no aggression or threatening gestures after being handcuffed, Hill is grabbed from behind and taken to the ground as seen at the 2:07 mark of the video below.

Ignacio Alvarez is the attorney representing Torres, per the news outlet. Alvarez stated that his client is seeking immediate reinstatement.

“While we believe the decision to place our client on leave was premature, we respect Director Daniels’ call for a thorough review of the incident involving Mr. Tyreek Hill, a stance we fully support,” said Torres’ representatives via NBC 6 South Florida.

Hill’s teammate, defensive tackle Calais Campbell, was also arrested when he attempted to de-escalate the situation. Hill was issued two traffic citations, and both were eventually released and got to the stadium in plenty of time.

Tyreek Hill Had A Signature Performance vs. Jaguars

Despite the disturbing and controversial incident, the 30-year-old Hill was not distracted on the field. He had a field day against the Jaguars with seven receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown, leading Miami to a 20-17 comeback victory.

Kicker Jason Sanders made two fourth-quarter field goals to lead Miami to victory, marking their fourth straight season-opening win. The Dolphins are on a short week before they play host to the AFC East rival Buffalo Bills on “Thursday Night Football.”
