PHOTO: New York Giants’ Throwback Uniforms Had One Player Looking Like He Wasn’t Even Wearing Any Pants
The New York Giants played terribly during their season opener, and they looked even worse while doing it.
The Giants are commemorating their 100th season with Century Red uniforms that they debuted on Sunday.
While the team’s primary jerseys will not change, it is bringing an alternate option to celebrate its 100th season in the NFL.
The Giants hosted the Vikings in Week 1 at MetLife Stadium, and broke out the new uniforms Sunday.
However, the team did not account for how the pants on the uniforms would look out in the open.
The biggest concern was the uniforms having tan pants and a red jersey with a thick blue stripe across the middle and white numbers.
Unfortunately for punter Jamie Gillan, there was one point in the game where the tan pants he had on looked like they weren’t there, so it appeared as if he was half-naked on the field.
The history behind it is the pants featuring blue and white stripes that the team wore during its inaugural 1925 season, while the jerseys are red with a blue stripe and numbers that honor the 1933 team.
As for the helmet, it paid tribute to their 1938 NFL championship team.
New York Giants Get Blown Out At Home In Their Century Red Uniforms
The New York Giants wore throwback uniforms, but their play remained largely the same.
The team went back to their old ways, and Daniel Jones looked lost in a 28-6 loss against the Minnesota Vikings in NFL Week One.
Jones finished 22-of-42 for 186 yards, throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown in the second half, per his stats on ESPN.
