“Community Notes” On X Destroyed The Baltimore Ravens With A Ruthless Burn After Their Failed Last-Second Touchdown Cost Them The Season Opener vs. Chiefs
The Baltimore Ravens’ social media team should have waited just a few more minutes before posting their final highlight of the night.
The Ravens were out for revenge in a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship game, and they had a chance to win it late in the fourth quarter.
On the final drive of the game, reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson found Isaiah Likely in the back of the end zone with no time left.
The Baltimore Ravens were going crazy as the head coach was motioning to go for two.
Unfortunately for them, the replay showed that Isaiah Likely had a toe out of bounds, and the play was overturned.
The Baltimore Ravens social media team on X failed to wait for that ruling as they posted the video and labeled it, “TOUCHDOWN OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tune in on NBC.”
Unfortunately, they failed to delete the video, so the community notes on X, which are meant for fact-checking and contextualizing posts, came in and helped them.
“No, it wasn’t,” the note read.
The out-of-bounds play helped the Chiefs secure their first victory of the season as they began their journey toward pulling off the NFL’s first three-peat.
Baltimore Ravens Players Disagreed With The Overturned Touchdown
Lamar Jackson and several Baltimore Ravens players think referees should have allowed their last-second touchdown.
After the Ravens lost by a toe Thursday night, quarterback Lamar Jackson stated he doesn’t believe the officials should have overturned Isaiah Likely’s last-second touchdown.
“I thought it was a touchdown,” Jackson said, per Fox News. “I still think it’s a touchdown.”
Ravens middle linebacker Roquan Smith disagreed with the overturn.
“I didn’t think it was enough evidence to overturn it,” Smith said. “But I feel like that’ll be something that the refs will have to deal with whenever that time comes, and that’s out of my control.”
If the touchdown had counted, Baltimore would’ve been down 27-26 with no time left. It appeared they were not going for a tie, so the game was going to end right there and not in overtime.
