ESPN Analyst Shockingly Tells Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones He Could Drop Dead At Any Moment
Jerry Jones has strangely been reminded of his mortality ahead of the 2024 NFL season.
The Dallas Cowboys owner has been around a long time—he’s turning 82 next month—but he’s still very active and has shown no signs of slowing down despite having seen many, many moons.
Given that the NFL season kicks off later today, the Cowboys were a talking point on ESPN’s ‘First Take.’ Chris “Mad Dog” Russo was on the show and suggested that Jones will not pay quarterback Dak Prescott unless he gets the team to the Super Bowl.
He also claimed that the team owner is running out of patience as he’s pretty old now. Host Molly Qerim said Jones was actually younger than she thought, but Russo argued that he could go anytime.
“He’s not 40. Eighty-two’s not young,” he said. “It’s not young, Molly. Not young. You can go any day at 82.”
Molly was clearly not pleased with the comment, as you can tell from the clip below:

Jerry Jones Doesn’t Need To Be Reminded That He Could Die
Life is incredibly unpredictable, and death even more so. Anyone could kick the bucket at any time; hell, Russo could die before Jones. But talking death on a sports show will always be weird unless someone who died is being discussed.
That said, Jones has waited a very long time to see the Cowboys win another Super Bowl. They have won three since he purchased the team in 1989 but haven’t reached the NFC Championship Game since 1995.
Dak has led the team to 12-win seasons in the last three years, yet they continue to fall short in the playoffs.
Last season was perhaps their most embarrassing, as the Green Bay Packers dumped them in the Wild Card round as a seventh seed. Perhaps they go all the way this year? Jerry would hope so.
