Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa ripped former head coach Brian Flores in a scathing rant and accused him of making some awful comments on a regular basis.

Flores was Tua Tagovailoa’s head coach for the quarterback’s first two NFL seasons. He was fired after the 2021 campaign and replaced with Mike McDaniel, who has guided Miami to two straight playoff appearances.

It was obvious that Flores was never sold on Tagovailoa as his QB. During the latter’s 2020 rookie year, Flores played a game of musical chairs between Tagovailoa and Ryan Fitzpatrick, unable to settle on a full-time starter.

On top of that, after he requested a move from Houston, the Dolphins were widely regarded as a front-runner in the Deshaun Watson trade sweepstakes. The Texans wound up trading Watson to the Cleveland Browns.

During an appearance on “The Dan Le Batard Show”, Tua Tagovailoa revealed some shocking and insulting comments he regularly received from Flores during their two years together in South Beach:

“If you woke up every morning and I told you you suck at what you did, that you don’t belong…that you shouldn’t be here, that this guy should be here…you haven’t earned this…and then you have somebody else come in and tell you ‘You are the best fit for this. You are accurate.’…How would it make you feel listening to one or the other?”

Flores’ firing was a stunner at first since he had led a long-time struggling Miami team to consecutive winning seasons. But the Dolphins certainly aced the hiring of McDaniel, who has unlocked Tua Tagovailoa’s potential while overseeing an explosive offensive machine that Flores never developed in Miami.

As for Flores, he spent one season on Mke Tomlin’s coaching staff in Pittsburgh before being hired as the Minnesota Vikings’ new defensive coordinator last year.

Tua Tagovailoa Is In Good Hands With Mike McDaniel

Tagovailoa’s 19-11 record as Miami’s starting quarterback since Mike McDaniel took over as head coach speaks for itself. The latter has restored Tua’s confidence and helped him reach his sky-high potential by constructing an offense built around lightning-quick speedsters (Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Raheem Moster, and De’Von Achane.

Tagovailoa led the NFL in passing yards last season (4,624). We’ll see if he can next deliver Miami their first playoff victory in over two decades.
