A new video clip from HBO’s “Hard Knocks” series shows New York Giants GM Joe Schoen asking his family about what they should do with their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Schoen and the New York Giants are featured on the 2024 offseason edition of “Hard Knocks” with the series set to cover Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears during the regular season.

One new clip shows Joe Schoen hanging out in his office with his family. Schoen asks his son, Carson, what the Giants should do with their first-round pick, to which he replies “Jayden Daniels.”

Carson suggests the New York Giants trade up for the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner, telling his father “You only get this job once.”

Before the 2024 NFL Drat kicked off, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that the Giants spoke with the New England Patriots about trying to trade up into the No. 3 spot to get North Carolina signal-caller Drake Maye.

Daniels, of course, was never an option for Joe Schoen and the Giants, as the Washington Commanders selected him second overall. The Bears, as expected, used the top selection on the first the aforementioned Caleb Williams.

The New York Giants wound up using the No. 6 selection on LSU wide receiver Drake Maye, filling another pressing organizational need. After all, the Giants haven’t had a 1,000-yard receiver since 2018.

Joe Schoen Is Giving Daniel Jones One Last Shot

The Giants awarded quarterback Daniel Jones a four-year, $160 million last offseason after he led New York to their first playoff appearance in six years. But Jones struggled mightily out of the gate last year before suffering a season-ending ACL tear in a game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Joe Schoen and the Giants decided not to replace Jones this offseason, instead opting to give the No. 6 pick of 2019 one more chance. Having Nabers as his WR1 should help, but it’s going to take quite the bounce-back season for “Danny Dimes” to convince the Giants to keep him beyond 2024.
