Michigan High School Football Player Hit With “Strong and Decisive” Punishment Following Senseless Attack That Left Opposing Player With Fractured Spine

During a junior varsity game between Kalamazoo Central and Lakeshore, a player from Kalamazoo Central was caught on camera purposely slamming the entire weight of his body into Colton Mims.’
The 15-year-old suffered two broken vertebrae and had to be rushed to the hospital. Comments on social media called for the 15-year-old belly flopper to face serious consequences for his actions.
The school in Kalamazoo, Michigan, said the student athlete who flopped onto Mims made a “poor choice” and that “the behavior was addressed.”
It has now been addressed.
According to Fox News, an official with the state’s high school athletics association said that the school has taken “strong and decisive action” against the Lakeshore player.
“Our staff has been speaking with both schools since Friday. Kalamazoo Central has taken this matter very seriously and they have taken strong and decisive action,” the Michigan High School Athletics Association (MHSAA) further stated.
Unfortunately, the public will not know what the punishment for the unnamed player’s actions toward Colton Mims was.
“Due to student privacy laws, we cannot disclose the specific accountability actions, but they have exceeded what MHSAA regulations would otherwise require in cases of dangerous and unsportsmanlike behaviour.
“Our schools can provide additional details as they decide to do so, since they are handling things internally.”
