Davante Adams reveals how his wife Devanne convinced WR to do Netflix’s ‘Receiver’ after Raiders star’s initial hesitation
After the success of Netflix’s ‘Quarterback’ series last year, the NFL and the streaming giant partnered to bring the fans ‘Receiver’ this year. Las Vegas Raiders star Davante Adams, who is one of the wide receivers starring in the series, was not a fan of it in the beginning.
Adams appeared on Fox Sports’ ‘Speak’ and spoke in length about Netflix’s ‘Receiver’ series. The Raiders WR said that it took the convincing of his wife, Devanne Villarreal, to agree to star in Peyton Manning’s project. [From 5:57]
“I wasn’t gonna do it to begin with,” Davante Adams said. “And then it took a look a little convincing from from wifey.”
Adams added that his private nature was one of the reasons for the hesitancy to do the ‘Receiver’ series.
“I got a little bit more details, find out exactly how much they will be around, because I barely do a lot of stuff with public as it is. So I wasn’t trying to be running around Vegas with a camera crew bringing more attention to me.”
Adams continued, explaining that his wife and kids were the main reasons to star in Netflix’s ‘Receiver.’ He said that the series would give his daughter something to look back at in the future.
“Once I really scan through it and talk a little bit more than my wife and everybody, [it] seemed like it’d be something that’d be cool to have done and look back on and say, ‘you know what, I’m glad I did that.’ And my daughter loves going on Netflix and seeing, you know, my face on there and everything.”

The Netflix’s ‘Receiver’ series will premiere on July 10, 2024. The documentary will have eight 45-minute episodes. The trailer for the ‘Receiver’ series dropped on June 13 and got the fans hyped up.
Each episode will give the fans a behind-the-scenes look into the personal and professional lives of four wide receivers: Las Vegas Riders’ Davante Adams, Detroit Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown, Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson, San Francisco 49ers’ Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle.The ‘Receiver’ series was filmed during the entirety of the 2023 NFL season. The executive producers of the Netflix documentary are Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and NFL icon Peyton Manning.
