Dallas Cowboys Break Their Silence Following Reports That They’re Trading Dak Prescott To The Cleveland Browns

The Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott had no clue that they would be dealing with trade rumors this offseason, but that is exactly what happened this week.
With less than a month to go until the 2025 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns are desperately working to rebuild their quarterback room.
According to longtime Cleveland Sports broadcaster Bruce Drennan, the organization was apparently working on a major trade to acquire Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
In a clip from his Wednesday show, Drennan states that he has reputable sources inside the Browns organization and noted that trading for Prescott was part of the team’s pitch to Myles Garrett to get him to sign his record-breaking contract to stay with the team.
Drennan further mentioned that the deal would include nickel cornerback Greg Newsome II and draft picks.
“Get ready for this one,” he said on his show. “I got a pretty darn good source within the Browns’ organization — a couple. I heard, since our last show, that part of the reason why Myles Garrett was so willing to sign this extension — yeah, money, money, money — the Browns are negotiating as we speak with the Dallas Cowboys for a trade for Dak Prescott.”
Social media quickly buzzed about the deal, but the money didn’t appear to add up on the surface.
All of the mentions of the possible trade prompted Jane Slater of NFL Network to check with her sources on the potential deal of Dak Prescott.
“I run it all down when working this beat, and the Dallas Cowboys are NOT working on trading Dak to the Browns,” Slater said. “In fact, texts with two sources tell me ‘fake news’ and ‘absolutely not’ before this gets any sort of wheels.”
It should also be mentioned that Dak has a full no-trade clause, which would allow him to veto any potential move.
The 31-year-old Prescott had a career year in 2023 before playing in just eight games last year due to a season-ending torn hamstring that required surgery in November.
He is still on track in his recovery and should be ready for the start of the 2025 regular season.
Dallas Cowboys Restructure Contract of Dak Prescott And CeeDee Lamb

The Dallas Cowboys restructured quarterback Dak Prescott’s contract earlier this offseason.
Prescott’s contract restructure opened up $36.6 million in salary cap space in 2025.
It came one day after the team restructured star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb’s contract. Both restructures freed up $56.6 million in cap space.
