Donald Trump set to revoke legal status of 240,000 Ukrainian refugees who fled to the US

Donald Trump is set to temporary revoke the legal status of nearly 240,000 Ukrainians who fled to the US after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Trump presented his presidential speech to Congress earlier this week, where he revealed Vladimir Putin has provided ‘strong signals’ to the US for peace and detailed a letter received from President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy amid the ongoing war in Europe.
Just last week, the 47th POTUS accused Zelenskyy of ‘gambling with World War 3’, while Vice President JD Vance insisted that Zelenskyy was treating both Trump and the US with disrespect and persistently called on the Ukrainian to ‘thank’ the president.
And after Trump withdrew military aid for Ukraine earlier this week, the president is set to crack down on Ukrainians who moved to the US following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
As per a report by Reuters, a Trump official and three sources close to the president confirmed the move was happening, which could see 240,000 Ukrainians fast-tracked to deportation.
The outlet states the move could come as early as next month – something which would be a huge departure from Joe Biden’s respond to the war.
The Biden administration the number of immigrants who can apply for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), a scheme that allows people to live and work in the US for a certain period of time.
It was used by 240,000 Ukrainians some three years ago after Vladimir Putin invaded their country.
As per Reuters sources, the impending move by Trump is part of his plan to strip legal status from more than 1.8 million migrants who entered the US under the Biden administration.
