Canadian Anthem Booed At 4-Nations Face-Off Final After Chantal Kreviazuk Changed Lyrics In Protest Of President Donald Trump

The 4-Nations Face-Off has been a source of pride for many hockey fans. The tournament is the first NHL fans to witness best-on-best international hockey since the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
The first game between Canada and the United States was one of the most talked-about games ever. In the first nine seconds of the match-up, three fights were organized by the Tkatchuk brothers and JT Miller.
Not only was the fight reportedly pre-planned ahead of the game, but it also seemed heavily fueled by the Canadians’ booing of the American national before puck drop, which the Americans heard loud and clear.
It seems American fans are getting their payback, but not without controversy. Following a lyric change in the Canadian national anthem before tonight’s game, the anthem was booed loud and clear.
The 4-Nations Face-Off Anthem Singer Gets Booed

Chantal Kreviazuk was chosen to sing the Canadian national anthem before the puck drop tonight. She changed the lyrics in response to President Trump’s suggestion that Canada should become the 51st state. Most of those ideas were shot down by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Kreviazuk changed the lyrics from “In all of Us command” to “That only we command.” The lyric change understandably received tons of backlash from Americans attending TD Garden and even Canadians online during the performance.
While there has yet to be any confirmation of what either President Trump or Prime Minister Trudeau thinks of the whole ordeal, we know that the fans in attendance did not enjoy the Canadian anthem.
Whoever wins tonight will enjoy bragging rights until next year, when the NHL will return to the Olympics in Milan.
