NFL fans are convinced that the Los Angeles Rams are about to trade quarterback Matthew Stafford to a rival NFC team after they made a fascinating coaching move.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the New York Giants are hiring Chad Hall as their assistant quarterbacks coach. This is noteworthy because Hall’s sister, Kelly Stafford, is married to the Rams quarterback.

Hall is a former NFL wide receiver who played from 2010 to 2013 before entering a coaching career in 2017. Hall was with the Buffalo Bills from 2017 to 2022 and spent the last two years as the Jacksonville Jaguars’ wide receivers coach on Doug Pederson’s staff.

“UH OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH,” a fan wrote with a photoshopped image of Stafford and Malik Nabers in Giants uniforms.

“Stafford to the Giants is so obvious,” wrote another.

“So you’re saying there’s a chance Matthew Stafford becomes a giant?” asked a fan.

“So he’s a giant!” claimed another.

“Family ties. Where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire to rumors like these,” quipped one fan.

“matthew stafford YOU are a giant,” said another.

The Giants will be in the market for a new quarterback after releasing Daniel Jones in November, and backup Drew Lock obviously isn’t a long-term option. With the No. 3 pick, the Giants could eye a QB prospect like Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward, but the trade and free agent markets could offer them the likes of Stafford, Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins and even Aaron Rodgers.

Rams Haven’t Made A Final Decision On Matthew Stafford

Stafford led the Rams to a surprise NFC West division crown and victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Wild Card Weekend, but the team still hasn’t made a decision on him. Stafford’s age (37) and contract could prompt the Rams to make a change, but the likeliest outcome is he returns to the West Coast for a fifth season.
