Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce reportedly delivered a speech that was so emotional to his teammates to the point that some in the organization think he’s planning to retire.

According to a report from Bleacher Report NFL insider James Palmer, Travis Kelce had tears as he delivered a speech to his teammates on Saturday night before Super Bowl 59 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Palmer heard that the speech was so emotional that some people believed that Sunday would be his final NFL game. The Chiefs lost 40-22 and were denied a three-peat.

Retirement rumors have surrounded Kelce since last year, but he agreed to a two-year extension worth $34.25 million a year ago. That seemingly locked him in through the 2025 season, but only time will tell if the 35-year-old decides to continue his pursuit of a fourth ring.

Travis Kelce Had A Down 2024 Season

The All-Pro tight end played well below his standards in 2024, catching 97 passes for 823 yards and three touchdowns. In the three playoff games, he caught 13 passes for 175 yards and one touchdown.

Losing Kelce to retirement would be a big blow to the locker room morale and Kansas City culture. But with his production declining, it’s totally understandable if he decides to walk away.
