Former Florida Gators and Indianapolis Colts defensive end Earl Okine has been arrested.

He was placed under arrest Wednesday during a traffic stop in Alachua County.

Okine was arrested on drugs and weapons charges late Wednesday night, according to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Facebook Page.

An Alachua County Sheriff’s deputy pulled his vehicle over for failing to stop at a stop sign.

During that stop, enough probable cause was established for deputies to search Earl Okine’s vehicle.

That subsequent search resulted in Deputies located 1.9 grams of crystalized Methamphetamine, a small amount of Marijuana, and a Smith and Wesson handgun that was loaded with an extended magazine containing multiple rounds of ammunition, per Jacksonville.com.

Once that was located, Okine was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm while in the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of Marijuana less than 20 grams.

The 35-year-old is a former four-year player with the Florida Gators.

He racked up 27 tackles, one sack, and one blocked field goal in his career.

Former NFL Player Earl Okine Was On A Lot of Teams But Only Made One Roster

Earl Okine could never truly find his home in the NFL.

He was signed as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans in 2013 but was cut before the start of the season.

He then took his talents to the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League for one month but never played a single game.

In 2014, Okine played for the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League, where he saw his most action. He recorded 5.5 sacks in 16 games.

In 2015, Okine signed with the Indianapolis Colts and appeared in three games, recording one tackle before being waived.

Through 2016 and 2017, Earl Okine only made it to the offseason or practice squad with the Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, and Arizona Cardinals.
