Former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh is set to receive a lucrative coaching offer from a familiar team.

In a surprise move, Robert Saleh was fired by the Jets following a 2-3 start. Jeff Ulbrich was named the interim head coach, but the change did nothing to help a Jets team that went 3-9 after Saleh’s firing.

According to a report from NFL insider Josina Anderson, Saleh will interview with the Jacksonville Jaguars for their head coaching vacancy on Thursday. Additionally, Anderson reports that the San Francisco 49ers “are expected to” offer Saleh their defensive coordinator position.

The 45-year-old Robert Saleh was the 49ers’ defensive coordinator from 2017 to 2020 under Kyle Shanahan, helping them to a Super Bowl 54 appearance. Saleh was also the Jags’ linebackers coach from 2014 to 2016.

Saleh, who won a Super Bowl 47 ring with the Seattle Seahawks as their defensive quality control coach, turned the Jets defense into one of football’s best during his tenure as their HC. They finished fourth and 12th in scoring during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, respectively.

Robert Saleh Is High In Demand

Most folks were baffled by the Jets’ decision to fire the beloved Saleh after a Week 5 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London. Sure enough, the team’s regression after his firing goes to show that Saleh wasn’t the problem in New York.

Saleh is renowned for his passion, energy and ability to communicate with players. It’s no wonder that he’s garnering significant interest from multiple teams.
