The funeral was not without incident. Earlier in the day, police arrested 42-year-old Joshua Runkles at the stadium after he attempted to enter the venue armed and disguised as a police officer.

Authorities charged him with carrying a weapon into a prohibited place and impersonating law enforcement.

Although his actions raised concerns, Turning Point USA later stated he had been part of an improperly coordinated private security effort for a guest, and they did not believe his intentions were malicious.
