‘Private’ Kylie Kelce fiercely defends delay in addressing Travis and Taylor Swift’s engagement
Kylie Kelce needs Taylor Swift’s fans to calm down.
The “Not Gonna Lie” host hit back at criticism on Thursday’s podcast episode over her delay in addressing brother-in-law Travis Kelce’s engagement to the singer.
Kylie brought up “a bunch of comments” she saw calling her out for not congratulating the couple for nearly two weeks on their relationship milestone.
The 33-year-old explained that she “record[ed her show] before the announcement was posted” on Aug. 26.
However, Jason Kelce’s wife also shared her “very conscious effort to not discuss Taylor and Travis on this podcast.”
She elaborated on the “disconnect,” saying, “People do not realize that, you at home, you have your family. And in your family, you might have a brother-in-law and they might be dating someone and you might have a soon-to-be sister-in-law.”
Kylie noted that she has “a relationship personally with them that no one else is involved in.”
Because of that, she insisted, “I don’t need to come out here and make statements when I already talked to them.
“I don’t need to talk about them all the time,” she continued. “Our relationship is private between us, so it’s OK that time made it so that we didn’t congratulate them in the last episode and also that I don’t always have to comment on what they’re doing in their lives because I can just text them and talk to them.”
“We are so excited that they are taking this next step,” the former field hockey coach gushed. “[My four daughters] are so excited to get another aunt. I am so truly happy for them and I feel so grateful that we get to welcome Taylor into our family in a more official capacity.”
When Kylie broke her silence on the news during a “Good Morning America” appearance last week, she similarly said Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and Finn, 5 months, are “thrilled.”
