Body found in huge search for missing army sergeant Alex Cairnie

A body has been found in the huge search for missing army sergeant Alex Cairnie.

In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “We are very sad to report that a body has been found this evening in the search for missing soldier Alex from Perham Down.

“Alex, 30, was reported missing on Sunday afternoon (06/07) leaving Tidworth camp and an urgent search has been ongoing since to find him.

“Sadly, at around 6pm this evening, a body was found near Warren Hill.

“While formal identification has yet to take place, it is believed to be Alex and his next of kin have been informed. Our thoughts are with them at this tragic time.

“There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

DI Mark Kent added: “Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones of Alex at this extremely difficult time.

“I would like to thank all those involved in the search efforts to locate him.”

His mentally atm, is service, and always will be.
If he doesn’t want to be found, he won’t be.
He has the training, to just disappear – that’s what he has been trained for, and will keep him alive, if needed.
He knows every knock of this area, he knows where is best to hide.
Nobody can help him, he has to come to terms with this himself, and realise he needs help.
I doubt you have your phone, but if you do, it will be dead, but talk to me Alex if you can.

I am married to my ex- service husband of 43 years, these years have not been easy.

Please reach out we lost our son 3 years ago and there is nothing my wife and I wouldn’t have done to help him if given the chance .
I read this post when he first went missing and read some of the comments of people pleading for him to reach out.
This goes to show how many of us would and could help .
I was struggling today as I do most days and so does my wife we know our son never ment the pain it leaves because as like Alex he was a good person .
I can tell you all there is nothing my wife and I wouldn’t do to save any other person from dealing with this on there own if we get the chance .
And I know all you lovely people on hear feel the same.
Our thoughts are with this young lad and his family and also the people he left behind who helped search for him .
