Supreme Court allows Trump to resume deporting migrants to third countries
The Supreme Court ruled Monday that the Trump administration can resume deporting migrants to countries other than their home nation with limited notice.
In a 6–3 decision that broke down along ideological lines, the justices stayed a late April ruling by a Boston federal judge that temporarily stymied the rapid deportation effort.
The conservative majority did not provide a rationale for their ruling but liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor penned a scathing dissent joined by fellow liberals Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson.

“In matters of life and death, it is best to proceed with caution,” Sotomayor wrote. “In this case, the Government took the opposite approach.”
“This Court now intervenes to grant the Government emergency relief from an order it has repeatedly defied. I cannot join so gross an abuse of the Court’s equitable discretion.”

Despite his emphatic insistences, it’s still unclear how successful the strikes actually were. NBC News reports that the “extent of the damage to the deeply buried facility at Fordo” as well as the sites at Isfahan and Natanz has yet to be determined. On top of that, roughly 880 pounds of 60% enriched uranium is still “publicly unaccounted for.”
Jeffrey Lewis, a nuclear nonproliferation expert and a professor at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies bluntly stated that he is “unimpressed” by the bombings carried out by American an Israeli forced, adding that they “failed to target significant elements of Iran’s nuclear materials and production infrastructure.”
In other words, we simply do not know the state of Iran’s nuclear program right now. As usual, Donald Trump doesn’t care about the facts. He lives in a reality of his own making and projects that out to his MAGA base, who in turn eagerly gobble it up. Only time will tell the truth of the matter.
